How to disable the ingame voice activation ( Client Side )

This Guide will help you and your friends if your having issues on disabling the voice activation microphones.

Which is built into the game, there is no way to disable in the game.


I thought i better re-post this onto the steam guides so more people can see it

Thanks to Mopafid who made the guide on the The Lord of the Rings: War in the North forums.

Getting Started

Open up steam, to go settings, and find the 'Voice' tab.

Click on 'Change Device' as shown below.


Right click the microphone your not using for Teamspeak/Skype/Vent and click: 'Use as default communication device'

Once your finished changing the settings, click OK and OK, I'm finished changing settings.

Muting the second microphone.

While you have the steam voice settings still open, make sure you mute the microphone and receive volumes.

and make sure you re bind the steams push to a key you don't use on your voice-over-Internet Protocol software Teamspeak, Skype, Vent etc etc.

And of course, use your primary mic for your voice-over-Internet Protocol software Teamspeak, Skype, Vent.

Extra: Installing a virtual audio cable

Installing a virtual audio cable, will make this progress 100% to do.

Simply download a virtual audio cable software

Virtual Audio Cable 4: Which i personally think is the best choice.

Install it, restart windows and open up steam, to go settings, and find the 'Voice' tab.

Click on 'Change Device' as shown below.


Right click on the Line 1 Virtual Audio Cable, Set as default communication device as shown below.



Well now your done, go ahead and launch The Lord of the Rings: War in the North and play the game as it's meant to be ^_^

Too much actions for a simple task. All you need to do to disable microfone in the game is just connect to you mates in game, so you will hear them in the game and then open sound settings in windows at right corner near the clock as on the last picture here. Disable you mic for a second and enable it again. Thats all. The only weakness of this method is you need to do it every time you connect to coop game again.
