Playboy Remove Nudity Mod [No Naked Ladies]

Why would you want to remove the nudie pictures? If you have a good answer, then this guide is for you.
Follow this guide to remove the naked, nude ladies from the Playboy Magazines in Mafia II. After some experimentatation, I discovered this easy method to remove all of the previewed Playboy photos that show up immediately after picking up the magazine in the game and also in the Collectibles directory. Note/Warning: This mod is reversable by selecting "VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES" in the Steam client. So beware of this if you do not actually want to reverse this mod. Playboy No Nudity Mod Examples

Normally in game, picking up the Playboy magazine will immediately show the nude photo from that issue. With this modification, the Playboy photo does not show up on the translucent dimmed screen of your current scene.

Find the Mafia II Install Directory

This is the same method to find the directory of any game installed from Steam.

1. Start up Steam and select the LIBRARY tab
   
2. Right-click (not left-click) Mafia II (the game must be installed) and select Properties from the pop-up menu
   
3. Select the LOCAL FILES tab
   
4. Press the BROWSE LOCAL FILES... button. The Windows Explorer will open up the directory / folder where the Mafia II files are installed

Find the Actual Playboy Magazine files

Now you must find the subdirectory / subfolder within the Mafia II install directory that holds the actual Playboy Magazine files. Example: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mafia II\pc\sds\gui

1. From the Mafia II install directory / folder shown in Windows Explorer,
   
2. ...left-click the pc directory / folder
   
3. ...then left-click the sds directory/folder
   
4. ...then left-click gui. This is the directory / folder of the actual Playboy Magazine files.
   
5. Scroll down until you see the file named pinup01.sds Note: File name extensions must be enabled in Windows Explorer to see the .sds extention. If you don't see .sds, don't worry, this method will still work. You'll just have to trust that the extention is there.

Modify the Playboy file

The names of the Playboy Magazine files start with "pinup" then a number (from 01 to 50) and "_ps" on some files. We'll modify these files to remove the nude pinup photo data.

See the complete list of the "pinup" files at the end of this section. Along with a link to download all of the files already modified.

1. Start up Notepad (or any other text editor). That's the only tool we need to do the mod.
   
2. Drag and drop the pinup##.sds or pinup##_ps.sds (i.e. pinup01.sds, pinup01_ps.sds, pinup02.sds, pinup02_ps.sds, ...) file onto Notepad. This opens the file for modification.
   
3. The insert text cursor will be at the very beginning of the file by default. Leave it there.
   
4. Scroll to the bottom of the file without clicking in the text area, so that the insert text cursor stays at the beginning of the file.
   
5. Now hold the Shift key and left-click at the beginning of the section that start with:
   <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes" ?>
   
   
6. Press the Delete key on the keyboard to delete everything highligted from the beginning of the file till here.
   
   
7. Save the file by selecting File / Save (not Save As). It will immediately save the modified file. It should not ask you to pick another file name. If it does, you might not have the rights to modify this file. You'll have to start over with Administrator rights.
   
8. Repeat from step 2 with the next pinup## file and continue until all pinup## files are modified.
   
9. Once all the "pinup##" files are modified and saved, you have completed the mod!
   
10. Enjoy Mafia II without the naked ladies of Playboy Magazine.
