Better In-Game Music
By Henry Ex
Improve the in-game music by using the original PSP tracks instead of the badly compressed ones that come with the PC version.

Why Bother?
If you've listened to the orchestrated soundtrack for any length of time, you might have noticed that it sounds kind of... bad. That's because the music for the PC was encoded with a bitrate of only 32 kbps, the lowest possible setting! For reference, your average MP3 nowadays has 192 kbps, or six times the bitrate of ClaDun's music. No wonder if it sounds garbled and tinny.

The PSP version, however, has properly encoded music in the usual MP3 quality. So i just ripped out the music from the PSP version, converted it for PC, and replaced the garbage music with the proper high-rate music we are supposed to hear.
How To Do It
I've put together a patch you can download to replace the game's music with its high quality counterpart. Download the file called ClaDunX2_musicpatch.zip from one of the mirrors in here:

Download Links[pastebin.com]

  1. Navigate to the game's install folder by right-clicking on ClaDun x2 in your library and selecting Properties to get to this screen:

Then click on Browse Local Files... to open up the game's installation folder.

  2. Now extract the ClaDunX2_musicpatch.zip into that folder to place these four files into it:
    • musicpatch.xdelta
    • patch.bat
    • Readme.txt
    • xdelta3.exe
Your folder should now look something like this:

  3. Run patch.bat to apply the patch.
That's it, you're done! The patched DATA.DAT file should have a size of 315 MB.
If you ever want to go back for... some reason, telling Steam to verify file integrity should be enough to redownload the original file.
Wait, Hold Up! What's xdelta3.exe?
I'm using a program that applies delta encoding to generate only the difference between two files, called xdelta3. This way, I don't have to provide illegal download links to this game's files, namely the DATA.DAT, where all the game's assets are stored.

If you're wary of downloading .exe files from foreign sources (and you should!), feel free to get the program from the creator's website[xdelta.org]. Download it from there, rename the executable to xdelta3.exe, and place it together with the other patch files.

For what it's worth, the version I supply in the download pack is an unaltered version 3.0.11 of Xdelta3 directly from the creator's website.
