This guide will help you modding for performance, configure your settings to the lowest, and tweak your gameplay for the best gaming experience.

Modding

Modding PAYDAY 2 will increase a lot of performance while lower the graphics of your game.
There is 3 different way to mod PAYDAY 2.

• Mod_overrides

• BLT Mods

• Bundle_Modder

Mod_overrides

Mod_overrides are generally safe to use in online play - they often have little (if any) impact on the experience of other users, and will be unnoticeable to other players.

The two most common types of clientside mod are texture and sound mods; these modify the textures or sounds of various objects, characters or environment. Only has an impact on the mod user's experience, even if said player is the host.

Such modifications have been unofficially supported by Overkill with the addition of the Mod Overrides system which allows the game to load unpacked assets from a special folder in place of archived files. This makes many simple mods significantly easier to use than they were before, though there are restrictions on the file types that can be loaded using this system in order to prevent malicious behaviour.

Mod_overrides (Mods&Guide)

How to install:
Example Mod: LemonCat MacroPack Smoke
Go to steam/steamapps/common/PAYDAY 2/assets/mod_overrides
Put the "LC_MacroPack_Smoke" folder into "mod_overrides" folder

Notice:
If you don't have mod_overrides in assets folder. Create a new folder name it mod_overrides.

Mod_overrides that increase fps:
LemonCat Macro Pack (No Cubemaps0[modworkshop.net]
All of the plants, grass, leaves, etc, and numerous planters; heads; enemy skins; skies; roads, and side-walks; cubemaps (reflections); menu backgrounds; have been reduced to about 16 pixels maximum.

LemonCat MacroPack Smoke[modworkshop.net]
Overrides most of the smoke textures to make them much lower resolution

No Trash[modworkshop.net]
Mainly a mod for cleaning up the litter/thrash on the ground in maps like Jewelry Store, Trustee Bank etc

Re-Texture Project - Performance & Quality[modworkshop.net]
Retexture some maps for more performance and quality

Readable Clues for Heists[modworkshop.net]
Makes clues on heists such as Big Oil and Car Shop readable on all texture settings

BLT Mods

A Lua hook designed for ease of use for players, and modders alike.

Payday 2 BLT is custom-made Lua hook for Payday 2. It has been designed and built from the ground up to make the installation and configuration of mods as simple and painless as possible.

BLT Mods (Mods&Guides)

Download PAYDAY 2 BLT[paydaymods.com] here.

How to install BLT:

• Open your Payday 2 directory (steam/SteamApps/common/PAYDAY 2)

• Extract the IPHLPAPI.dll and mods/ folder to your PAYDAY 2 folder

• BLT mods are installed by simply placing the mod folder into your mods folder

Mods for boosting performance:
Contour Workaround[paydaymods.com]
This mod suppresses contours a.k.a outlines, replacing them with colorized text labels instead.

DIsable Fog[modworkshop.net]
Makes the game look alot better and probably even gives you an fps boost

Less Effect Alpha[www.mediafire.com]
Disables various effects to improve performance for those on low end machines.
(It causes some crashes like when throwing molotov or concussion grenade. I uploaded the fixed "Less Effect" so don't worry.)

Low violence mod[modworkshop.net]
Enemy corpses will disappear as soon as the enemy dies.

DIsable some effects while keeping the game look good.

Rats Day 1/Cook Off Blur Removal[modworkshop.net]
A small script that removes the blur from Rats Day 1/Cook Off for people that have vision problems or frame lag from it.

MUI[paydaymods.com] (HUD)
Minimalistic, scalable UI mod with tons of in-game options that liberates roughly 80% of needlessly obstructed pixels on your screen by default. This is aimed at those who are fairly familiar with the game already and do not need constant assistance from the UI.

Bundle_Modder

Bundle Modder is a tool that allows you to create and install mods that require file patching. These mods are usually in a .pdmod format. The tool also supports some BLT hook features, such as toggling BLT mods. Tool also supports mod_override, the tool will automatically place mod_override supported files into mod_override folder instead of patching them into the game.

How to use bundle_modder:

• Extract the Zip file to anyway you like.

• Open up PDBundleModPatcher

• Go to "Options/About" tab and browse for your assets folder.

• Go to "Mods" tab and "Add Mods".

• Open up .pdmod file.

.pdmod files that increase fps:
Shadow map mod 4.4[modworkshop.net]
This mod optimizes payday 2 with it's shadows, effects and many more unique features.

Lower Graphics Mod
This mod lowers payday 2 graphics even more.

Renderer_settings

If modding is not enough, you can try to squeeze out some fps by editing PAYDAY 2 renderer_settings.

Where to find your "renderer_settings":

• Type run in start.

• Type %appdata% in the blank space.

• Go to local file and find your PAYDAY 2 folder.

• Open up renderer_settings with Notepad++[notepad-plus-plus.org]/Wordpad[microsoft_wordpad.en.downloadastro.com]

• Change the number of the resolution to 640x480 if you want to.

• Change the "texture_quality_default" value to "very_low". (lowest texture)

• Change the shadow_quality_default" value to "very_low". (lowest shadow)

• Save it.
