A Geometry Dash Guide (For Beginners)

Hi, I'm R4CC00NY and I have been playing Geometry Dash for almost 1000 Hours, so I decided, why not make a Guide for beginners who (almost) don't know about anything?

English is not my first Language, so I'm sorry typinging mistakes.
If there are any.

Also this is my first Guide.

The Basics (Controls)

To start off easy, Jumping can be done with Left Mouse Click; Space; UpArrow; (A) Button on Controller; (RB) Button on Controller.

Portal & GameModes

Going through Portals changes your Gamemode, there are a few different Gamemodes.

Gamemodes:

• Cube
  
• Ship
  
• Ball
  
• UFO
  
• Wave
  
• Robot
  
• Spider

Gamemodes+:

• Mirror (Left&Right)
  
• Resizer (Small&Normal)
  
• Dual (TwoPlayers&Normal) [Some Community Maps use "Coop" that means two players control the Duals (One Bottom one, Other one Upper)
  
• Portals (Input&Output)
  
• Gravity Switch

Orbs & Platforms

Orbs and Platforms play a big Role in Geometry Dash.
There are multiple Orbs/Platforms with specific attribute.

Pink - Low Jump ; Like Jumping normally
Yellow - Higher Jump ; Normal Jump x2/x3
Red - Super High Jump (Introduced in Fingerdash)
Blue - Switches Gravity
Black - Brings you to the Ground (Introduced in Fingerdash)
Green - Switches Gravity with an arc

Green (with Arrow in it) - Holding Dashes, Letting Go Stops Dashing
Pink (With Arrow in it) - Holding Dashes, Letting Go Stops Dashing and Gravity Switches

Levels (Main)

There are a total of 21 Levels in the Main Game.

In Order:

Community Levels Overview

Being in the Main Menu makes you think:
Left is the Icon Customizer, Middle the Play button, but what about the right one?

The Right one takes you to the "place" where Geometry Dash users make, play, rate and comment on other user-made levels.

The first Screen when clicking on it gives you the following buttons:

• Saved
  
• Scores
  
• Quests
  
• Daily
  
• Map Packs
  
• Gauntlets
  
• Featured
  
• Hall of Fame
  
• Search

Create:

Here you can create your own Levels.
Level Editor later in this Guide.

Saved:

Levels you already played. (Only Community Levels)

Scores:

The Leaderboard of Geometry Dash:

• Top 100: Top 100 Geometry Dash Players
  
• Friends: How good you are in comparison to your friends.
  
• Global: Your global rank
  
• Creators: The best level makers

Quests:

Completing Quests gives you Diamonds, which you can get Icons with.
3 Quests are given Daily.

Daily:

The Daily Level, completing it gives you Diamonds aswell. 1/day

Map Packs:

Every Pack includes 3 User Levels with a different Theme each.

Gauntlets:

Kind of like Map Packs but with more reward. (Diamonds, Orbs, Chests, ...)

Featured:

The Featured Levels. Levels get featured by Moderators.
To get featured the level must be atleast "long".

Hall of Fame:

No Leaderboard, Levels.
Like Featured levels but better, called "Epic".

Search:

You can search Levels here.
You can either type the Name or the ID of the level.

Stars

Every Level, whether Main Levels or Community ones, have a special number of Stars you receive when beating them.

1 = Auto (Levels being played automatically)
2 Stars = Easy
3 Stars = Normal
4-5 Stars = Hard
6-7 Stars = Harder
8-9 Stars = Insane
10 Stars = Demon

Stars is the game's scoring system.

Even though 10 Stars are Demon, there are different kind of Demons.

Demon Kinds:

• Demon (General)
  
• Easy Demon
  
• Medium Demon
  
• Hard Demon
  
• Insane Demon
  
• Extreme Demon

Level Editor

The Level Editor. Yes. One of the best things in this game.

Starting off with the Overview.

Main Menu:

Click the Right Button, then create.

In "Create":

Now click "NEW" (Located in the bottom right)

Now type in the Level Name, not writing anything in it will call it "Unnamedx"
(x = Any Unused Number, example: Unnamed1, Unnamed2, ...)

Then the description, if you want.

After that click the button with the Hammer and the Wrench (Left one)

Where you are now is called: "The Editor"

Tips for starters

Hello, welcome to Geometry Dash, if you decided looking up guides before beating any levels. Hi, I'll give you some tips to make your life a bit easier.

Starting with gymmicks:

Gymmicks are introduced every few levels.

The following gymmicks are shown like this:

The Dash orbs in Fingerdash, etc.?
You hold as long as you want to.
You only stop when you hit a [S] Block, or you let go off the mouse.

The same with the purple one, only your gravity switches aswell.
