"A painting depicting the Swedish warship Vasa in a fierce naval battle against her opponents. The ship sank in 1628 only to be found again just outside Stockholm harbor in the early 60's. Now eternally resting at the Vasa Museum, the ship is one of Sweden's biggest tourist attractions and has been seen by over 35 million visitors since 1961, and is a widely recognized symbol of the Swedish "great power period"."

Either way, that's what the painting is supposed to depict and that was what I was trying to describe. Of course you aren't wrong though

also I did not see any information that it was the cannon fire that caused the ship to sink, rather that the cannon ports were open, the ship overloaded and the first gust of wind then caused the cannonports to flood

not exactly? the side was seperated in two level of extensions with different legth and glass domes. there were no window frames on the side. The painting got two level of cannon ports on the back. The original just had one XD I mean that are major structural differences.. but ok.. lets say the painter didnt have a lot of references after it sank that fast haha

You are right and wrong Malakina. The artwork doesn't actually depict Vasa in action, but it depicts when the celebratory broadside was fired that caused the ship to capsize. It is the actual ship but since it is a painting it does not look exactly like the real-life Vasa does.

actually I think its another ship. I cant quite tell which, but the entire rear looks different

the rear side extensions dont look accurate though

only that it never entered a fierce battle XD it sank right after it swam out of the harbour due to its overweight. but nice artwork
