And no, even FireRed and LeafGreen use the feather design. The asparagus exists exclusively in two pieces of Western-only Gen 1 media (a printed book and a goofy Pokémon painting program), except it's displayed in those at a full vertical orientation. The right-tilt is solely Bulbapedia's doing, and everything that uses the right-tilting asparagus is copying from Bulbapedia's mistake or the wealth of Google search results that have propagated as a result.
The Earth Badge is a grass-seed asparagus thing all across the Internet entirely because of Bulbapedia putting it up as the only acceptable official art even though it's basically the Bad Boxart Megaman version of that badge. I hate it. I hate it so much.
