Basics to the Game
Some of the Basics

First off, roll is your best friend. Learn how to roll through enemies, through projectiles, and how each weapon makes a different delay to your roll after swinging or shooting it. If you can expect enemy attacks, you can dodge them 100% of the time with a roll.

And thats the basics... lol... But no joke, roling is all you need to know to win the game.

How to deal damage
Dealing Damage 101

There are a lot of ways to deal damage.
  • Melee - crit/bleed/burn
  • Range - crit/bleed/spam
  • Skills - Well, basically everything

I personally feel like there are three ways to deal damage. Critical damage with weapons, Bleeding damage or any other tick modifiers, and trap damage with skills.

Having a weapon with crit is great, having a weapon with bleed is great, but it only does so much damage. So how do you deal enough damage for later mobs in the game, or even bosses? If you spend every skill point you have into strength, then your hp will suck right? The trick is Combinations!

If you have a combo like phase with assassins daggers, phase skill does 150% damage on next hit and teleports you behind the target, and assassins daggers do crit damage from behind, so your damage will stack like crazy. There are lots of combinations to stack with crit damage, and i am not going to list them all, i am just going to say that the 'attack bonus' skill is crazy good atm.

Tick damage is the same, combinations with weapons that have +100% or +50% for burning, bleeding, or poisoned enemies can deal a lot of damage. Only problem with this is you have to get a certain amount of rng with the wepons and items you find on your run.

The easiest way to clear levels is using combinations from skills. A lot of skills allow you to stay back from the enemy when they take damage. Turrets, meat grinders, grenades. Using combinations of the skills can allow you to quickly kill enemies without even getting close. (my favourite combo is magnet grenade and meat grinder)

It is also important to note that in the current state of the game, everytime you grab an upgrade for hp, str, skill, it stacks about 41% more than the previous level. So a lvl 1 hp will be 100, then ~141, then what ever, to the point where lvl 10hp is 2k+ Hit points. Using this can make massive damage or massive amounts of hp.
A couple final tips and tricks
Items and weapons that give +1 to a stat are worth keeping even if you arent going to use them much. Unless you are a god at the game, you will take damage eventaully, so spending stat points into health is great. Also spending dead cells on the potion flask is worth it, multiple heals can keep you going through a level.

But in the end, this game has so many combinations of items, that no run will be the same, so you have to make work what your given.

And i didn't even mention sheilds, because personally i think they suck at this current state in the game, you can always out roll, then out block an enemy, leaving your two slots for weapons also open for a melle and a range, which rekts.

Some other tricks with the game. If you take a lot of damage from an enemy, you can try to attack them back or any enemy, and dealing damage to them when your health is dropping with the orange bar will cause you to regain som of the lost health. As long as you dont get one shot or killed really quickly, you can quickly attack them right back, and barely lose any health.

Personally i spend any stat upgrades into my health for that reason alone, that you can go ham, and when you take damage, as long as you have enough to survive, then attack right back will heal you up the damage taken. And with combinations of items, you dont need too much strength or skill to actually deal damage.

I have beat the game multiple times using nothing but a electric shock and attack boost skill, but it is possible to beat it with just throwables too. I hope this game keeps growing and gets good updates.

My personal fav is Explosive Crossbow plus Ice Bow/Freeze Blast
Just stop the enemy in its tracks and then KABOOOOM.
You can also use the Infantry Bow as well if you are early on, works almost just as well ^^

my persomal favorites cheese is the frostblast stops most enemies in their tracks and almost always results in a stun once you hit them. combine that with any kind of trap or a hyabusa boot or gauntlet or an impaler and you can do a LOT of damage.

Just going to say if meat grinder is one of your favs for combos then it combos better with bear trap, mainly because magnet grenade only works on slower enemies.

since I am fairly new, my favorite cheese item is the magnetic grenade, really helpful for those out of reach bats and mages
