Warning Very Early Old Guide
I have decided to publish this guide early, am open to suggestions and will be pleased with people who tell me a farm or two not included in the guide

Thanks to KUNT for helping me grind for the pig houses.

Screw KUNT for baking his electrical potato.

This guide is ded, I will no longer be updating it, unless of course I come back to DS
Early Game Farms
These traps are:
Easy and cheap to make
Easy and cheap to make...

Gobbler Trap
I mean, this is ovs the best farm you can make early game, this can make a steady supply of drumsticks, (2-999, depending on size) which means meatballs for days

First make a enclosure the size of 9x9 with a hole in the middle and a opening with a hay wall if DS or a wooden gate if DST, you can then pick a berry bush and place a berry in the middle (or powder cake, crock pot recipe at the buttom of the guide), close the wooden gate or repair the hay wall with grass and start picking berries, a gobbler will spawn and go straight towards the berry, it won't be able to eat it because of the walls and will risk its own life in order to get it, keep picking the berries till your done, by then you should have a bunch of gobblers around the walls, you can then go up to them, and hit them, and they will not run away, because of how devoted they are...

The trap will not work in winter, as the berries won't grow, but this will still work in summer as long there is a flingo nearby

Bee Traps

During spring, bees are hostile and will attack anything in sight, you can build a few pig houses near your beehives/beeboxes and get a supply of stingers and some meat and pig skins, bunnymen are not recommended as bees go to their beehives during dusk.

Moleworm Farm

During dusk, you want to go towards a area you know for certain there are moleworms, now, you can shovel the burrows for minerals (gold), the moles will make another burrow for you to shovel, then you can kill them, they will respawn as long as the borrow is still there.

There are two ways to transplant moles, one get rid of their burrow and whack them with a hammer to make them pickable, then drop them were you want, he will create a burrow shortly.

Or

This will actually increase moleworm population, when you place a moleworm in wrapping paper, it will think it does not have a home, and create a new one, the old burrow will then spawn another mole worm, you can use this to increase population of moleworms and a good source of food during winter. (video explaing this in a simple fashion) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEtZ5lvjj5s
Pig Torch Farm

A pig torch can spawn pigs after a few days, this allows you to incase the torch, leaving space for the torch and a spot for the pig to spawn in, he should spawn inside the spot, if not, kill him off and try again, if works correctly, you should have a infinite light source. When you've done this, place some powder cake next to the pigs so that when they turn into werepigs they will harmlessly run into the walls, otherwise they will attack the walls and get out. (Place berries if you don't have powder cake during the full moon.)

Or

You can just put traps around the torch and kill the pigs everytime they spawn

Mid-Game Farms
These traps are:
Expensive but worth it in the long run and/or
Take a long time to make but worth it

Pig Farm

This is a pretty expensive farm, close to being a late-game farm, but, if you make this your first priority, you should be able to get this just before summer. It also works for winter, which means food will never be a issue again. Just don't let it burn down during summer.

First you must create a walled pen, the bigger it is, the more expensive it will be to create the pig houses, but you can always extend the pen later. (you can skip a side of the wall and create the same trap with the gobblers if your lazy liek me.)

Then you must create a opening, with hay walls or wooden gates and start creating pig houses, destroy ones that spawn randomly in the world with a hammer, and, if possible, use a destruction staff.

Start building the pig houses, the most boring bit, sooo much grinding!

Once your done, you should have either pigs trying to get a berry behide a wall or pigs stuck inside a pen, now, its best to do this at the start of the day were pigs will stay out the longest.

Give a pig or two meat, and then, attack another pig, but before you land a hit move away, this will make your followers attack their own friends and families, and will cause a huge chain reaction were all pigs start having civil war for no reason.

Aftermath:

Bewarned however, the pigs will also start eating the meat from their own kind, either get pig manners mod or be quick to pick up the meat with a lazy forager

Silk Farm

Fairly cheap, only in mid game because you have to wait till a spider nest becomes level three and then fight it for spider eggs.

First, make a pen, and make it slightly bigger than the one in the preview, this is to leave space for pigmen and bunnymen houses.

Then create some pigman and bunnymen houses, they will attack the spiders and the spiders will attack them, bunnymen will come out at dusk and night, whilst the pigmen are in their houses, this is to stop spiders that spawn in the middle of dusk or night from beating up your walls.

Spiders will not be able to eat the left over monster meat because of the bunnymen or pigmen.
But pigmen will eat the meat, and this might turn them into a werepig, however this is not likely.

Spider queens will spawn, but will be dealt with as long you have plenty of pigmen and bunnymen.

Bunny Farm

Functions like a average panic room, get a bunch of bunnymen to chase you because of your meat and lead them to a bunch of tooth traps. Expensive but gives carrots, meat and bunny fuff.
Bunnymen will eat the carrots. This will work during winter.

Butter Farm

This would be in the late game section but there are mods to create catcoon den's, you'll need to create a another pen as big as you want it, you'll then create catcoon dens or spawn them and use butterflies to plant flowers near the cats, they will attack the butterflies and eat butterfly wings, but won't eat butter, if you come back in a while, you should have 1 butter or more.

If you don't want to use mods, just find a cat den and make a pen around it, butter production will be low and it will take a while to get to the pen from your base depending how far it is.

You can also find a morsel or two when you come by as cats also attack birds, you can also find feathers, in DST, you can create a scarecrow to spawn canaries which drop only morsels when killed.

Panic Room:

This can be used to gain the drops from hounds without engaging them, there are many ways you could build a panic room, a cross, circle, etc. I prefer doing it this way

It should also have a firepit and chest of equipment. Place ice flingos if close to your base as so fire hounds don't set your base on fire

Remeber that this is not the only way to make a panic room, look at these ones I found,

Fire farms DS ONLY

This trap will only work in DS, as in DST fire spreads much slower, unless you have a mod for that and how this works is using a bug in the game.

Make a pen, not a big one, big enough to fit 1 pig house and/or rabbit house.

Fill the pen with haywalls around the houses and place 2 or more ice flingomatics around it depending on the size. Enable one ice flingomatic, when you have enough loot, enable the other flingo.

Then set it on fire

Don't ask me how it works, its called magic, when the pig dies he is replaced instantly.

Koalefant Farm

This farm can be used to "store" meat that won't perish, first create a pen as large as you want.
(becareful, koalefants act like beefalo, protecting other koalefants from being attacked, you can create a area were you can safely attack the koalefant) and have 2 gates opened, then find a koalefant and make it run into the pen, or place a salt lick in the pen and get the koalefant next to it, it will then slowly go towards the salt lick, this is the best option as it keeps koalefants inside the pen even if the gate is open, perfect for getting more koalefants in the pen.

(Koalefants are two walls large, this means you can save a few walls.)

Tentacle Farming

Only Wickerbuttom can do this, using the, appropriately named book "On Tentacles", spawn 3 of them ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and use them for wat ever u want, create a area of broken hay walls and spam the book, the walls will force the tentacles to spawn outside of it and now you can lure bosses into tentacles because we love luring people to tentacle traps. Or make it as a overkill hound trap, over time, they will weaken and then you can finish them off for their loot.

Late Game Farms
These Farms are:
Too show off how rich you are,
To get rare resources quick.

Hound Spawner

Using a telelocater, you can teleport a varg to a pen or bait it into a pen, make it sleep or freeze it and close the gap, the varg is two walls fat so you can leave a small gap between the walls.

The varg can be used to spawn hounds for teeth, gems and monster meat

In late game, all hound mounds might've been destroyed or you need some teeth or gems badly

Krampus Farm

This farm is used to spawn krampus, either by making dodos extinct in DS SW and then placing 2 eggs or just killing koalefants and other "innocent" animals in the game, Wickerbottom can farm krampus easliy via the birds of the world and a load of bird traps or tooth traps.

For some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason monkies are considered innocent in SW

Video Explaing this aswell: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVK2jjIBhe4
Exclusive Farms
These farms are only useful in certain scenarios, such as being in the caves/ruins.
Warning, these farms are EXTREMLY difficult to complete.

Monkey Farm

(Requires Wickerbottom)

Give those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ what they deserve by automaticly killing them over and over again.

Pen a few monkey pods, create a 3 wide hallway down, as long as you want, and then surround the hallway with hay walls, 6 walls wide, destroy all of the haywalls (attack, not hammer) and then spam the book "On Tentacles", the tentacles will only be able to spawn in the hallway because of the haywalls and then monkies that spawn will get rekt.

Note that I made a mistake and did 5 walls wide instead of 6, there are two tentacles spawned on the outside now.

When the monkies are dead, go and collect the loot with a lazy forager outside of the stone walls, beware of getting hit by tentacles though.
Pooder Cake
It never rots...

If you learned something from this guide leave a rate, please its only 7.8 seconds of your life, you'll help me so much from just one click ye?

KUNT is missing for more than 4 days, I am guessing his electric potato got baked, so this guide might stay old for a while unless I cheat in a new world...

I will still add content, but without pictures (or terrible ones)

BreadandYeast  [skapare] 18 okt, 2017 @ 13:36
Place 9 walls around food, place alot of berry bushes and when you go harvest the bushes, the birds will ignore the bushes and go straight to the piece of food you left in the middle.

could someone explain the first one (the turkay trap) in better instructions?

Nice guide- But I don't recommend panic rooms. In my experience, they confine you to a small space and you're unable to flee or kite the hounds if they make it through. I'd recommend using a) a mixture of pig and bunny houses (So that you'll always have some creatures ready to fight on your behalf b) a tooth trap field, so that you can just drag the hounds through it, killing them all, or c) a tentacle field (as playing as wickerbottom), where you can take care of the hounds as well as scoring yourself some tentacle spikes and spots. Fire farms can also be used to repel hound waves, but that's a DS exclusive thing, and only really works as Willow.

Good work with this guide, it's mostly high-quality. Thank god for not mentioning advanced or basic farms; I would have had a stroke.

Sincerely,

GBMC, your local friendly wes main.

You should store rot as a fertilizer or a source of fuel to conserve wood
