Welcome Castaway! PVP or STD Server Survival Guide
Here you are, lost in one unknown territory, of wich you don´t make a clue of where it is, how big it is, and most important, if your life isn´t already in danger, by one of the many aspects that might and will kill you, if you dont take some precautions.

Getting started! What to do first.

You should start using "6th sence" pressing default key "Alt". This way you are aware in a limited area around you, of what is gatherable, minable, at first glance, new players might find it hard to spot and identify the resources they need.

First thing, take a quick look around, move a bit in order to explore some area so you can determinate coordinates of your position, you can check it pressing "M".

I start with wood, hitting it with the chipped stone you start with (no resources required to craft at tools tab, in craft menu), while im at it, i´m using "ALT", this way when i spot "FLAX", a blue herb required to craft linen rope (linen bandage and linen backpack), i alternate between gathering it and food plants, such as "Corn" or "Redberries".

Hardly you will spawn in a different place than "Main Island", sometimes it might happen, hopping it doesn´t, in "Main Island", you should be able to see really fast using "ALT" all these resources, plus stone, alternate in between these and forget about the rest, for now, with this i´m talking about comfrey, fish, meat, this will only slow you down, point is, this way you are constantly working towards your early game main goal, getting equipment.

Stone Axe; Shield; Bow**; Arrows**; Linen Backpack***; Stone Pickaxe; Linen Bandage.

This is my sugestion of gear, this is what you should be working to get right after spawn, this gear, is NOT inclined for PVP in any way, its only for farming purposes, just to take you to where you want to be, in your small starter outpost, smelting "Bronze" to craft "bronze equipment", getting ready to the next step, building the definitive base.

(Fail to think this way, step by step, and you for sure will get stomped by clans, veteran players or the worst of them all, the "toxic head hunters fresh spawn killers", they have weedish, childish creepy voices, and speak many pagan and savage tongues.=))

When you have the gear up listed, it´s time to hunt and get some armor. Did you notice those "Asterisks", well, each one represents the upgrade level, being bow and arrows of bone and linen backpack the 25 leather upgrade, this you should only be able to do after hunting a few animals down.

Theres this trick most people aren´t aware, to hunt, right before entering in combat, build one, or four foundations, what makes you feel safer. This way, when you are out of the foundations and hit one animal with a arrow, it will normaly start chasing you, the only thing you have to do when the animal is close to you, is jump up to the foundation you just built, and it will start to run away. Jump off, hit it, jump in, this way you´ll have the animal "trapped", chasing you and fleeing from you. One other way is being close to the sea, if you get close enough, they run away too. hit it, run to the sea, the animal flees, hit it again to make the animal chase you again.

After hunting, you should have a decent stack of "BONES", "LEATHER" and "FAT", like i said earlier, forget about meat, drop it for now you do not need it. Corn and redberries are good enough and make sure you have it all the time and eat it, keep the "FOOD BAR" green, because it grants regen both in life and in stamina, decisive to survive to one ambush, both by a sneaky player, or sometimes animals.

At this stage, you should consider to look craft menu, materials tab, craft 3 glider parts, reach the top of a mountain, build 2 ligned platforms, glider launcher, and try your luck steering up and down right and left with mouse, being up to decrease speed and down to increase it. Most players build 4 platforms to build a bed too, just in case you realise its too soon to practice flight skills. Best way of travelling and sieging specially big bases. We will address this point later on with more detail.

So, now, you should be able to pin-point your location in map, "right-click" in it allows you to put map-markers, try to mark Cave locations, outposts, your own outposts and boat houses, *Resource spawn points, this way helps you to keep track of whats going on and where to go when needed.

Copper/Tin, 12F;13F;12G;13G is the area (and only) in "Main island" to find cave entrances, there are a few, be aware, there is one that seems like a well or a big hole in the ground, my advice is, try another one.

To finish this basic guide, i let you my sugestion of how you should protect your "builders desk".

Some people, prefer to let "builders desk" accessible with a "Window Wall", upgraded, its only a matter of opening window to interact with it, while it stays hidden, but not so much to the well trained eye.

My aproach is, Hidden at all costs. If i need to interact with it, destoy walls to make way pressing "F7"

PVP /// 2017 /// Base building example & a few tips [WorkInProgress][TradFR à venir]

Well once you're used to the basics, it's time to build a safe place.

In this topic I show a few tips about making your base more ready for anytime raid.

- First thing to know: There is no "unraidable" base. Every raiding challenge is about how much boxes the house contains.
By boxes I mean every surface you may put a desk on (platforms, floors).

- Once build, the desk allows his protection to every building which it is attached. So if you're the builder, only you we'll be able to build & destroy, or open doors/chests.
Well, until someone get close and hit it with a weapon. That's why it is necessary to hide your desk both from sight and touch. In fact, nobody should even be able to guess where it is.
Later on this topic I'll talk about enjoying a multi-desks structured base.

Anyway, building a smart base is about balance between 3 elements: Stealth, Strenght & Decoy.

Stealth means: Only one box is needed to put a desk on. So you should think to choose its place very carefuly. This is the most important part.

♫♪♫You Have To Know♫♪♫

0. F5 to build → F6 to upgrade → F7 to destroy.
1. If you build a floor above to your desk, people who get there will be able to see it through the floor's slats. Desk got an unique ochre/old papyrus color which is far more light than the slats.
2. To counter that, you may put chests or flowerpots upstairs over the desk's room. Then seal it with walls. This will provide you a double protection against any attack from the sky. Indeed, its not possible to upgrade floors and roofs, so its often an cheap & easy way to raid with a Glider.
3. No way to put the desk higher than the 7th floor ! You clever one ;)

Strenght has 2 functions: First is Defending. If spotted, your desk must have a huge external protection. By this I mean at least doing double-walls, then upgrade them. If you're a crazy ass builder, multi-desks structures provides the best protection. I'll explain later.
Second function, Counter-Strike: organize your space in order to put traps where it could be useful. Entry doors, hallway, at the top of ladders. Rock boulder can be activate manually through a window wall. More useful: if some dudes are raiding you when you're online; having a glider launcher at the top of his house is the best way to destroy their trebuchets. A well thrown torch may be as much effective.
I'll give some tips with pictures about making a base "strong" as I see it.

Decoy : My favourite part. Allows a psychological defense to your entire building by a front attack to opponents motivation.
Nobody can see through a roof. So each box with 4 walls & 1 roof represent one possibility to hide a desk. Use this to lure your opponents and gain some time.
Inside your house, you don't really need to have a big space for your basics needs. A complete smithing place may stand comfortably into a small room, so don't hesitate to cover a lot of useless boxes with roofs.

Here we are. Maybe some pictures will help my weird english.

▼▲▼▲ Solo base prototype ▼▲▼▲

We'll do this together. You'll need more/less 20 000 woods to build this
.
→ 1) At first, build a cross pattern with wood foundations

→ 2) You'll have to repeat this next part with the 4 externals foundations, so choose the one you want to start with then put a triangle foundation on it. Careful to follow the right 180° angle.

→ 3) Then put another triangle foundation in order to do a 90° angle with the other one:

→ 4) Now, follow the diagonal way you started with a basic square foundation. If you want to get bigger you can follow that way, but I won't do it with this house.

Well, once you repeated this part for each curve:

→ 5) Get back where you were and repeat that next pattern sort to have it on each curve:
At the end, your final pattern must looks like... Wait no

Sorry about that. Lets put walls everywhere ! Don't forget to build extra double-walls on each foundations you can.
Even better if you upgrade them with rocks*, bronze** or volcanite***.
(Boost wall damage resistance: *X2, **X3, ***X4).

Well, I tried to make it clearer with drawings:
Caption
White color represents empty areas. People can get there but they still have to break at least 3 walls to get into a place they don't know.
Orange is for the door.
Green is the way I create to get in. There are lot of possibilities ! Second picture is another option.
Yellow is about decoy zones.

Here's where to put your desk by order of danger: Red is good decoy, but easy to break through. Green is a little obvious, but well more protected.

From now, use basics floors to make an upstairs access. Then, put somes chests or flower pots at risky areas (where your desk is) to protect your desk from Glider bombers.

Usually, I use upgraded window walls to keep an access to theses chests. Now you can do what you want about the next floors, but here's an example:
Green are bamboo walls.
Blue are basics walls, area inside there is smithy place/bed/etc.
Orange are doors.

If you want to improve your sight from the first floor, build 4 triangle floors at each angle of the house.

With a roof and some place for another floor, it would look like this:

Ready to be adapted the way you want

▼▲▼▲ A Few Tips ▼▲▼▲

Smash his head with a rock !

At first, defend your entry with a boulder thrower.
Localize the floor just above the external side of your door, and destroy it one time.

Then you should be able to seal it with at least 2 basic walls + 1 window wall, through which you will activate the traps. Boulder can only be placed on upgraded walls (keyboard F6 menu), so you'll have to update 2 walls (for 2 boulders) at least with rocks.

When both traps are placed, arm them with 25 rocks.
Then, activate it when you need to.
You may also put a wire in front of your door in case of someone coming when you're offline :)

The magical wall

The idea is to seal an entry with an invisible wall.

Do you remember this pattern ?
How it looks like from the inside.
We're only talking about this triangle foundation, but all walls must be standing on the previous pattern.
This is about positioning wooden poles. First pic is open, second is close:

Craft Smelt Smithing Tricks

There are a few things you need to know ! Assuming you are NEW to the game, or you never explored game that much, with this guide, you will learn how to use this tools, and some tricks that i discovered with Manirou troughout our adventure together playing this game.

Getting Started >

You will need Furnace;

Anvil;

Smith;

Furnace needs 3 things, you need to put wood in it, activate furnace air blower, and press "E", selecting furnace to open furnace Craft menu.

There are some craftable objects that dont require Smithy or Anvil:

Shield Bronze or Steel;
Bronze or **Steel Hammer **(amazing to break doors, easy to craft, durability, way faster hammering armor/tool parts, also good for pvp, 25% armor penetration).

To craft a entire set of bronze prepare the following resources:

16 armor parts (16armorparts x 50bronze =800bronze);
35 leather;
10 flax
