Obtaining All Endings with just 2 Playthroughs (Spoilers)

This is a short guide on how to obtain all endings and their respective achievements in just 2 playthroughs. There will be minor spoilers.

Introduction

This is a simple guide on how to obtain all the endings and their respective achievements in just 2 complete playthroughs instead of 5.

All it needs are 3 available save slots for you to save your game in, and a bit of patience.

To Start...

For your first step, you will need to play the game normally until up to the 3rd Orb. However, you MUST make sure that the first 3 Orbs are either Joy OR Sorrow orbs, not a mix of both.

Now, to make the rest of the game easier on yourself, grind in the first area of the Maltose Mines where the 4th Orb is. It is easier to do it in the Joy phase, as you can destroy enemies easily and quickly with Incur and Spark/Spark More. When you are out of MP, grab a drink from the Cabbage and get back to work.

Once you have reached at least level 18 or so, you are ready. You are more than ready if you obtain Blaze/Spark/Freeze/Gust Most at level 20. Being at level 20 or higher is a good idea if you are trying to go for the One True Soma ending.

Make three seperate saves.

All set? Good. Before we truly begin, we will go through the endings and their requirements.

Endings

Shifting Fate
This achievement is easy. All you need to do is just obtain any of the endings in the game.


A World Without Joy
You will only be able to get this ending if the first 3 Orbs you gathered are Joy Orbs. For this ending, collect the rest of the Joy Orbs so you will end up with 6 at the end.

Happiness Restored
To obtain this ending, you will need to get at least 4 Joy Orbs and at least 1 Sorrow Orb so you end up with 4 Joy and 2 Sorrow Orbs, or 5 Joy and 1 Sorrow Orb.

A World Without Sorrow
To get this ending, the first 3 Orbs MUST be Sorrow Orbs, and then get 3 more Sorrow Orbs so you end up with 6 at the end.

Sadness Restored
For this ending, it will only work if get at least 4 Sorrow Orbs and 1 Joy Orb so you end up with 4 Sorrow and 2 Joy Orbs, or 5 Sorrow and 1 Joy Orb.

One True Soma
If you have gathered 3 Joy Orbs at the first half of the game, you will need to gather 3 Sorrow Orbs to get an equal split at the end. The same is true if you have gathered 3 Sorrow Orbs - you will need to gather 3 Joy Orbs.

Planwork

There is a reason why you need 3 seperate saves, and if you've read the requirements above, you will see why. If you do not understand, never fear - I will explain it to you.

With 3 Joy or Sorrow Orbs at the first half of the game, it enables you to get three endings from that point: A World Without Joy/Sorrow, Happiness/Sadness Restored and One True Soma. You will get either Joy or Sorrow and Happiness or Sadness depending on the Orbs you have gathered in the first half of the game.

For example, let's say that the first 3 Orbs are all Sorrow Orbs. It will allow you to get A World Without Sorrow, Sadness Restored and One True Soma depending on which orbs you gather from that point forth.




If the first 3 are Joy Orbs, you will be able to attain the A World Without Joy, Happiness Restored and One True Soma depending on which orbs you gather from that point on.

The Plan

Okay, let's get to the actual plan.

At 3 Orbs (either all Joy or Sorrow), this is where you make 3 saves.

In the first save, gather the rest of the Joy or Sorrow Orbs to attain A World Without Joy or A World Without Sorrow.




In the second save, gather up to 4 Joy and 2 Sorrow (or 5 to 1) to get the Sadness Restored or 4 Sorrow and 2 Joy (or 5 to 1) to get the Happiness Restored ending.




In the third save, get a equal split of orbs so you end up with 3 Joy and Sorrow Orbs at the end to get One True Soma.




Note that earlier I did say you will have to make 2 complete playthroughs of the game. That is because if you gather 3 Joy Orbs, it is impossible to get the A World Without Sorrow and Sadness Restored endings. Likewise if you gather 3 Sorrow Orbs, you cannot obtain the A World Without Joy and Happiness Restored endings.

Thankfully, NG+ will help speed up the process significantly for the other 2 endings as it allows you to keep your levels, equipment, abilites and items which will help you blaze through the game much faster.
