How to install Half-Life and Portal soundtrack

Sometimes, you want to play Half-Life or Portal soundtrack, but not to install whole game in your computer. I will explain you how to do it easily!

Basic requirements

If you want to install soundtracks for Half-Life and Portal games, you need to own that games first. Also, you need to add soundtracks to your library on these links:

• Half-Life
  
• Half-Life 2
  
• Half-Life 2: Episode 1
  
• Half-Life 2: Episode 2
  
• Portal
  
• Portal 2

How to install

First, you need to open Steam console. There are two possible ways of doing this.

First, more simple way is to simply click on this[rdr.to]link. This will open your browser that will open your console. But this way is not completly bug-free, so in case of any bugs, try the second way.

The second way is done by pressing Windows key + R


This will launch Run window that is going to look like this:


To launch Steam console, type

steam://open/console

and press Enter.


It is going to open new tab in Steam application called Console - that is going to look like this:


Now, enter command for soundtrack you want to download from the list below and press Enter:

• Half-Life

  download_depot 70 323130

• Half-Life 2

  download_depot 220 323140

• Half-Life 2: Episode One

  download_depot 380 323150

• Half-Life 2: Episode Two

  download_depot 420 323160

• Portal

  download_depot 400 323170

• Portal 2

  download_depot 620 323180

How to play

You already downloaded soundtracks. Now how to play them?


First, you need to set location where soundtracks are located. Go to Settings:


Than select music tab:



Find there a file where Steam is located, and select this location:

Steam\steamapps\content

If you already set location where soundtracks were downloaded, click Scan now


If you have done everything right, click on Music in Library tab, and play any song you want!
