HUGE credit to Diaz - I learned how to do this from his video:

Also, this only works on Steam. If you're on browser, ^^^check this video out^^^ (also rip browser it sucks lol)

This tutorial covers changing the color palette of Frozen Blight, changing the color of your holo, along with a *little* bit sprite editing. It only covers how to do it in Photoshop. If you're using something else, Google is a friend.

Again, huge thanks to Diaz; I wouldn't have known how to do this without you.
Changing the colors! Wheeee!
It's really, really easy.

Step 1: Open Photoshop

Step 2: Navigate to <SteamFolder>\steamapps\common\StarBreak\data\texture and MAKE A BACKUP OF THIS FOLDER.
This is where Starbreak's spritesheets are located. (A spritesheet is basically every frame of every animation ripped apart and slapped into a single image.)
The spritesheets all have a short name, then a number, then a bunch of gibberish. Ignore the gibberish and any file that isn't a png.

Step 3: Open up ice.0, ice.1, ice.2, and ice.3 in Photoshop.

Step 4: Pick one to start with and Layer>New>Layer via Copy (or ctrl+j)

Step 5: Hide the background layer. (This will be used as a backup in case you accidently screw up)

Step 6: Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation (ctrl+u)

Step 7: Once you've changed all the colors you want in each image, save each of them as a .psd, then File>Export...>Quick Export as PNG into the <SteamFolder>\steamapps\common\StarBreak\data\texture folder. IF YOU DON'T DO THIS, THE COLORS WILL NOT HAVE CHANGED IN-GAME.

And there you go! Launch StarBreak, hop on into Frozen Blight, and WHAM! COLORS!
Changing your holo!
Don't you hate it when you're in a huge crowd of 30+ people and there's so much happening that you lose track of yourself and ultimately die?
This could help!

Your holo is the white circles floating behind your character, marking which one's you and which ones aren't you. Now you can make it anything you want!

Step 1: Open the base.0 and base.1 files in the texture folder.

Step 2: The pieces of the holo are located here:
and here:

Step 3: In the base.0 file, using the Marquee tool, select a rectangle around the holo like this:
MAKE SURE THE SELECTION ONLY GOES TO THE VERY EDGE OF THE CIRCLE, LIKE THE PICTURE SHOWS.

Step 4: Go to Layer>New>Layer via Cut (ctrl+shift+j)

Step 5: Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation
Check the box marked colorize, and mess with the sliders to your heart's content.
Also note: You can put anything you want here, just make sure it isn't bigger than the circle.

Repeat steps 3-5 for the other pieces in base.0 and base.1

Once you're all done, make sure you File>Export>Quick Export as PNG to the StarBreak\data\texture folder.
[Advanced] Actual sprite editing
Ok, so if you really want to make yourself miserable and stare at the same spritesheet for hours on end trying to find all the sprites for a single animation, I'm not gonna stop you.

So here's how the spritesheets work:
The artists draw each frame of animation as a seperate image (called a sprite), then places them all into a big image (the 'sheet'). Then, the software is told where each frame is so it can play them sequentially, resulting in an animation. But, in order to keep each frame seperate, they are all inside their own rectangular area of pixels, so if you shift a sprite, even a little, they'll be cut off in their own animation and pop up in other animations. So sprite editing is tricky for two reasons:

1. If it leaves its bounding box, it'll bleed into other sprites'
2. You have to find every sprite for each animation

So, if, for instance, you wanted to make the Ironclad's stock Sledge look like a dong, you'd have to go through every spritesheet and find every single frame, and edit them all individually while staying within their bounds.

It's tricky, but it's doable.
Here's the one that I'm using!
First, back up your <SteamFolder>\steamapps\common\StarBreak\data\texture folder to somewhere safe, then download this[www.dropbox.com] and copy the texture folder to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\StarBreak\data\
If prompted, replace the files in the destination.
Happy modding!
