GameRanger Installation Guide
By William
GameRanger - Pretty decent program which allows you to continue playing multiplayer by tricking your game into thinking you're playing on LAN. Let's get to it!
Download Link: GameRanger[]

Installation Instructions: Once installed, make an account. Now open the program and there should be servers under "Star Wars Battlefront II" to join. After joining a community hosted lobby, you can just click join at the bottom right corner of the lobby interface. If there are not any servers under Star Wars Battlefront II, go under Edit > Options and locate "Star Wars Battlefront II". Once done, on the bottom right-hand corner of the interface, there's a button "browse". Click on it and change the directory to your game. (Directories for both Disc and Steam versions are provided below).

Disk Directory: Windows (C:) > Program Files (x86) > LucusArts > Star Wars Battlefront II > GameData >

Steam Directory: Windows (C:) > Program Files (x86) > Steam > SteamApps > Common > Star Wars Battlefront II > GameData
Removing Advertisements from GameRanger
This section is dedicated to removing the advertisements GameRanger has, which causes lag for some people.

Locate your "Hosts" text file. C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc and drag the text file to the desktop. Edit it and input the text (at the bottom) below. After that, place the file back into etc. You should have successfully removed all advertisements from GameRanger.
Playing GameRanger Through Steam / With Overlay
If you're one of those people who prefer to have Steam overlay while playing SWBF2 then this section is for you. It turns out the regular game when playing through GameRanger does not regularly support the overlay for unknown reasons, until someone figured out the method.

To do this, you do not actually need the game purchased through Steam, just a copy of the game alone. Firstly, press the "ADD A GAME..." button near the bottom left of the Steam program, followed by a selection of the "Add a non-Steam game..." button. After that, you will want to locate wherever you placed either the GameRanger executable itself, or a shortcut for it, and choose one of the two as a non-Steam game. With that done you should be able to find it in your Steam library and run it. Make sure GameRanger is closed before running it for it to work.

Can't rate this because I used the guide for the Steam overlay part and don't own SWBF, but thanks a lot for that info! Checked online and couldn't find a solution. Now I have it! :)

I do think though that simply saying "wat" leaves too much room for assumptions and given your earlier confusion it's reasonable to come to the conclusion that you were still not sure
