How to beat the Puppet

A guide on how to beat the puppet, and how to get past him if you're stuck.

Reason for this guide

Most new players don't understand how to beat the Puppet, mostly resulting in them quiting the game and trying again months later only to fail again.

I have beat him after not knowing how for very long, until one day I got the brilliant idea to look it up. Seriously it hadn't occoured to me to do this, and I know it hasn't for many others.

When I looked it up I found a steam forum of someone also asking how to beat the Puppet. They explained and I easily beat the Puppet afterwards.

How to beat the puppet

The puppet has an interesting mechanic, and he's actually my favorite specimen in the game. His story of misfortune, leading to his haunting and taking of children, and his mechanic on how to beat him. Although, he is very very disturbing in many ways.

To beat the puppet you have to look at him, he will attack while you aren't. Navigate through the rooms while looking at him. He will spawn at the door for each room.

So you navigate through the rooms looking at him, behind you then open the doors still looking at him. With your back to the doors.

When the rooms are big and maze like he will teleport behind you after a certain amount of time, usually resulting in getting damaged a bit.

Quickly turn to face him, still moving towards the next door.

When you reach the next checkpoint (usually an elevator at the next hundredth room) you finally lost him.

In all

Look at him. Sprint to the door looking at him. Don't look away from him.

I hope this guide helped.

Oh also.. Don't be standing still in the game for too long (like reading this guide). Even at checkpoint rooms like the elevators, standing still for too long will kill you.

you gotta like listen for the sound ques. he should make some soft wood clanking sounds when hes moving and when you hear that. then that's when you turn around and avoid his attack. atleast thats what he does for me.

I'm not sure why this got downvotes. Everything I said is accurate... the main point is that you need to look at him while running backwards. I hadn't known that for a long time, stuck on his level, and I've seen even youtubers stop playing at that point cause they couldnt figure out how to get past him. etc.

This specimen works drastically differently than it did in the free one, so I'm glad I had heard of these changes before playing the HD renovation lol

@kitty eventually he teleports even if you’re looking at him. But it takes much longer. By then you’re at the door if it’s a smaller room.

For me the specimen never works like that, he teleports all the time even when I'm looking at him.
What I found working every time is whenever I hear him teleport I quickly dash forwards while I look backwards and he never hits me.
