Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG May 2002 Collection!

Leírás
2017-03-03 EDIT:
So I learned a lot from putting together this upload, chiefly that if I want to upload more collections like this in a timely way, I HAD to automate the process a bit rather than doing everything by hand. So with the Magic Set Editor tool, some Java kludgery, and the Yu-Gi-Oh! Wikia, I rebuilt this collection from scratch in record time (couple hours instead of several days), and overall improved the quality of the card textures (by no longer using scans) and slightly modified, more relevant card hovertext! This will make uploading followup collections much faster AND far more substantial! I don't intend to stray from the new card format I set here, but if you already cobbled together a deck from the cards in this mod, I recommend you do it again with the better-looking, updated cards! I'll add a screenshot to the end, showing the difference. Stay tuned sometime within the next 24 hours for the sequel to this mod!

2017-02-25 EDIT:
Ash in the comments has said "My only gripe would probably be that the levels in the hovertext is only stars and doesn't include the level number for quick counting, but this is minor complaint seeing as I believe the hover text is simply meant to serve as a correct errata for all these old cards." Fortunately this is the internet, where no ♥♥♥♥ is too minor! I have added the level number to all cards in the set, re-rolled the booster packs, and re-submitted to the workshop. All future releases will follow this standard. Thanks for the feedback!

<end edits>

This is a very special Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG collection that focuses on the very eary beginnings of the game. I created this Workshop collection with 4 goals in mind:

1) Use card scans that represent the real-life set.
2) Give all cards hover text that contain their names, and their entire errata and stats!
3) Make all cards available in related packaging.
4) Focus on a particular time frame, defined by its ban list.

This set contains cards and packaging for the sets released prior to the first official card banlist
All cards have hover-text containing the name and relevant (and most recent!) errata of the card, when viewed face-up. All packaging is mostly aesthetic, containing a light script that automatically destroys custom bags that have their contents emptied. This includes deck/set boxes and individual booster package wrappings.

There are two qualities of this collection that truly stand out against all the rest! The first is the hover text containing the card's errata. By including the card's most recent card text, players can make accurate plays without ruling vagueness and do not have to read the text of the poor texture quality of the card itself! That makes this mod accessible at low-texture settings!

The other quality is the aesthetic packaging. Most of the time, it serves absolutely no purpose except to look nice. But in the case of the "Legend of Blue-Eyes White Dragon" booster, I have provided no orderly set of which to use! All the cards in that set must be pulled randomly from booster packs, using a near-accurate-to-life random model!

The inclusion of random boosters is no small feat. It took many hours of studying publicly available information and consulting expert sources to pin down exactly how card distribution worked in this set, and the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG is infamously complicated in this regard. It took many more to create an accurate card distribution script to actually generate the thousands of booster packs included. Regardless, I'm sure you'll be happy with the result. (well you might be, until you start pulling, and realize Legend of Blue Eyes is full of ♥♥♥♥ ;D ).

As a result of all this work, this mod is keenly compatible and intended to be played with Draft and Sealed Formats in mind. In short, you and another player start with a finite number of booster packs and both create decks that are to be used against each other.

== HOW BOOSTER BOXES WORK ==

There are two booster boxes containing 1200 packs each from the "Legend of Blue-Eyes" set. These boxes have a small script that shuffles the contents when they are loaded into the game. Booster packs can be removed, one at a time. Each booster pack contains a deck of nine cards, which includes 8 commons (including short print and super short print, no dupes) and 1 guaranteed rare.

As stated before, the randomness was modeled on real-life observations of pull ratios and publicly disclosed rarity odds for specific cards or categories of card. I make no claim that it models real life exactly. Because the booster script was something I made for myself as a tool, the cards and the combinations in these boosters are technically finite. But since the boxes each contain 1200 boosters that are randomly shuffled, it is practically random enough for play or even just for simulated pulling.

There are no differences between the two boxes save one: They have different "Secret Rare" cards available. The odds of pulling a secret rare are the same, but the retail packs give you the last-numbered card in the set, and the hobby packs give you the zero-numbered card instead.

For your convenience, like all other aesthetic packaging in the game, booster pack packaging will be automatically removed from the game when emptied of their contents.

== WHAT THIS COLLECTION INCLUDES ==

* 1,200 random "Legend of Blue-Eyes White Dragon" retail store booster packs
* 1,200 random "Legend of Blue-Eyes White Dragon" hobby store booster packs
* 1 Starter Deck: Yugi
* 1 Starter Deck: Kaiba
* 1 set of Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel Stories promotional cards
* 1 set of Yu-Gi-Oh! Forbidden Memories promotional cards
* 235 unique cards

== ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ==

What's coming up for the future? I have two projects in mind I want to have uploaded sometime within the week. This set contains no playmats or any additional tools for playing the game, so I might just upload the obligatory player toolset for the game. But frankly, everyone else on Steam already has uploaded this, so you can just search for one of those. The LOB booster pack in this collection is very anemic. While this is helped slightly by the inclusion of the starter decks and promotional cards, this initiative won't take off without having access to more boosters. So look forward to "Metal Raiders" in the very near future! It should be much faster to make now that I have my scripts.

Can't believe I opened 600 packs before coming here to find out Tri-Horned Dragon is exclusive to the other box. Would have been nicer to see that a little higher up in the explanation. Found it in the next 15...

Hey, I would like to make another request for these sets: Is it possable to include a stack with one of each card in the booster set? This way I don't have to crack open tons of packs to see the full set for study.

A88mph, you're gonna be very pleased tomorrow.

This is something I have been waiting for for a long time here. You must be the first person to have actually wanted to give any Gen 1 duelist a real booster draft system for Online yugioh, where all others have denied any desire to put in the effort to do so. For this, I thank you. And I hope you plan to continue this effort for as many boosters as you can.

That's absolutely perfect! Thank you for taking the time to address it!

One of the most impressive Yu Gi Oh mods on the workshop with amazing attention to details. My only gripe would probably be that the levels in the hovertext is only stars and doesn't include the level number for quick counting, but this is minor complaint seeing as I believe the hover text is simply meant to serve as a correct errata for all these old cards. Also it's no less convenient than actually playing the game in real life, I'm just used to it being present on online formats I suppose. Can't wait for Metal Raiders and any future packs!
