"A few weeks ago I was wanting to do some sculpting, but instead of working on something I created I wanted to practice modeling a creature based off of another persons concept. The experience of sculpting is always a little bit different when you are working from someone else sketches. Trying to stay true to the concept while resolving problems that arise while translating a 2D image into 3D is an interesting challenge and it's a good skill to practice.

A friend and I had been playing The Isle and I remembered that Rodrigo Vega worked on concepts for the game. I've been a big fan of Rodrigo's creature designs for years now so I thought it would be really fun to sculpt one of the concepts he made for the isle. It was really difficult to pick which concept to work from but I finally settled on the Neurotenic Rex strain. This is what I have so far after a couple of sculpting sessions. The model still has a long way to go but I figured I'd share it anyway. Hope to find more time to work on it soon.
