Steam Animated Avatar [2019 Update]

This guide is going to show the only possible way of having an animated avatar on Steam, which is only visible in Steam Friendlist and Steam Chat

Those are not GIF avatars. The script works by changing game avatars, that doesn't require loading a new picture each time. The effect is visible in Steam Friendlist and Steam Chat.

Requirements

You will need a userscript manager. You can find the most popular below:

  Greasemonkey[addons.mozilla.org]

Step 1

Install the following script:

Step 2

Open up your profile page in your browser:

http://steamcommunity.com/my/

Press "Enable Animated Avatar" button:

A modal window with predefined presets will appear. You can preview the presets there as well:

Select desired preset. Once you want to disable it, just simply click stop:
