DOS Card Game

Welcome to my card game based on UNO called DOS.

Description

Dos is best played with 3 or 4 players. The objective of the game is to be the first player to get rid of all the cards in their hand by matching cards with the discard piles.


Set-Up

- Shuffle the DOS card deck.
- Deal 14 cards to each player to form each player’s starting hand.
- The remaining cards in the deck form the draw pile.
- Once each player has their starting hand, draw two cards from the draw pile and place them both separately next to the draw pile face up. These cards form the two discard piles.
- You are now ready to play DOS.


How To Play

Play begins with the player who is left to the dealer and proceeds clockwise. When it is your turn, you may discard a card from your hand that matches either the color or the number/symbol of the card on the top of both of the discard piles. Once you've done so, your turn ends and play moves on to the next player.

If you can't play a card from your hand that matches the card on top of one of the discard piles, then you must draw a card from the draw pile. You draw one card per discard pile you are unable to play. If the card you've drawn matches the card in that discard pile, you may play it immediately. Otherwise, your turn ends.

Sometimes you are able to play a card with a special symbol on it. These are called action cards. After a turn ends, the action cards are executed from left to right. (See the "Action Cards" section for more details on the effects of the different actions)

If once you've played a card, you are left with only two cards in your hand, you must shout "DOS" or type "DOS" in chat. You can also do this before you play the card. If you fail to do so and someone calls you out, you must draw two cards from the draw pile.

If you have one card in your hand at the end of your turn, you must draw 3 cards from the draw pile.

When a player has no cards remaining in their hand, the game ends, and that player is the winner.

(optional) If the draw pile runs out of cards. The game immediately ends after the current player's turn. The person with the fewest amount of cards wins


Action Cards

Skip - This card has a symbol that depicts a circle with a strike through it. When a player plays this card, the discard pile the skip was played on cannot be played on next turn.

Reverse - This card has a symbol that depicts two arrows, pointing in opposite directions. When a player plays this card, the play order then flows in the reverse direction. So, if the game was being played clockwise, the game would then be played counter-clockwise (and vice-versa).

Draw Two - This card has a symbol that depicts two cards. When a player plays this card, the next player must draw two cards from the draw pile.

Draw Four - This card has a symbol that depicts four cards. When a player plays this card, the next player must draw four cards from the draw pile. The draw four cards can be played on any color or symbol in a discard pile at any time.

*Draw Four Counter - When a Draw Four is played, the person who has to draw at the start of their turn can counter the card with a skip card of the same color. This will prevent the Draw Four; however, this will cancel out the skip card so the pile will be playable next turn.

Combos

If a player placed two cards in the discard piles that both have the same color and number, all other players will need to draw 4 cards from the discard pile. This does not apply to Action Cards

Action Cards can be played in a certain order to do different effects. The left discard pile happens before the right one. For example, a Reverse Card on the left side and a Draw Card on the right side would mean the direction is reversed and then the next player would draw.

- 3 Draw Four Cards
- 4 Draw Two Cards
- 4 Skip Cards
- 4 Reverse Cards
- 6 of each Number Card
