Introduction
Hi everyone, I discovered this build a few days ago, crafted my rapier and wicked hope just yesterday and I would like to share it since it is so fun to play with. I tested this build on hard, and concluded that hard level 50 epic monsters drop very quickly if you charge up first but it is difficult not to get killed sometimes by high damage spikes.
The idea of this build is that increased dodge distance combined with speed lets you outrun your own boomerangs. This allows you to cast more and more boomerangs that will chase you as long as your speed buff is active
For leveling, I recommend using sunray especially if you already have a legendary one in stash. You can get through the story on hard hardcore pretty easily by just using sunray and occasionally boomerang if you need to dodge attacks and can't afford to stand still.
Cards
As my cards, I use 3x the tower(3), 1x hope(6) and 1x the barbarian(5). Another good setup could be to use 2x the tower (3), 1x the tower(1) and 2x hope(6) for higher damage absorption. This second setup does require using an additional speed wicked effect since you wont be able to sustain it very easily otherwise. A third option is to substitute 1 or more towers or the barbarian for the acrobat (3), since you won't stop rolling so the armor is practically permanent. EDIT: I decided that switching 1 tower for an acrobat works better for me and it's what I have been using for a while now. Your divine/wicked effects will be 2x speed on kill (3 without barbarian), 1x regeneration 1x increased dodge distance and 1x negate crit.
Gear
As for weapons, I personally use a farming weapon in the offhand but the ideal setup if you don't care about loot would be to have a tome and a rapier. This gives you massive mobility as both weapons will refresh their cooldowns once the barbarian triggers. If you want to use a farming weapon like me, you will need a single zealous tome/rapier of vampirism. This will give you 110% overdrive gain and on hit healing that works with demon powers. Personally, I prefer the rapier because the dash feels better and it allows me to finish weak single enemies much more easily. The tome's dash cooldown can be removed by picking up orbs but I do not think making and picking up orbs is worth it. The magician card makes these orbs give overdrive too but you're better off just running the tower instead. I use the cavalier's outfit for this setup. Note that it is really important to max out your cavalier's overdrive gain by combining it with legendary cards in transmutation. The difference between 80 and 180 overdrive per second is huge! There is also the second possibility of running the highlander's outfit with a tome. I haven't tested this personally, but I may do it at some point. I would also love to hear from anyone who tried it.
Demon powers
Obviously you want to be using a maxed out boomerang. Every set of 3 legendary boomerangs grants you +80 damage per second per boomerang in transmutation, which really adds up especially since it's all ignoring armor. Power stones of demon power are a faster way to upgrade them and also upgrade the radius simultaneously, but they are pretty rare. As your second demon power you will mostly use blink, although in maps with a lot of skeletons/small spiders where you will get bodyblocked shockwave is much better. Blink's functionality in this build is that it can sustain your boomerangs without requiring you to get speedbuffs from wicked effects, but it does not allow you to increase the number of boomerangs you have very quickly. This is why the wicked speed effects are so useful.
Strategy
So this is where it all comes together. You are using a rapier or tome which has a dash, the blink skill and speed buffs on kill, which will reset their cooldowns thanks to barbarian. This gives you enough mobility to outrun boomerangs consistently. Now keeping them up is just a matter of constantly spamming roll and preventing the boomerangs from touching you. Always check your speed buff length above the health bar whenever your overdrive fills. If you have plenty of speed, make another boomerang. If you don't, use blink. Following this cycle, using half of your overdrive immediately when it fills at all times, your damage is theoretically infinite. The best area to practice this by far is the bottomless pit because it is a large flat area. Unfortunately, any height differences in maps will make you lose your boomerangs EDIT: actually, downward slopes help you! Boomerangs will behave the same if they are flying above you. They will still chase you the same way and hit enemies even though they are flying up in the sky. They can touch walls in their original trajectory, but they will disappear if they touch objects while trying to get back to you. There also seems to be a kind of bug that makes boomerangs return to you instantly when they touch an enemy time bubble. Now if you walk past an enemy, they will be killed instantly by the stack of boomerangs, but the hard parts of this build are both to keep your boomerangs from reaching you and to stay alive somehow while you are rolling past enemies. This is pretty difficult sometimes, since this is still a pretty low health/armor build unless you use the acrobat which will make it much slower. However, there are definitely advantages to having thousands of dps in true damage ;)
To the devs: thank you for this awesome game! Please don't make boomerang return faster, it is really hard to play this build in anything but the bottomless pit anyway. Also the clearspeed isn't super high because the boomerangs have to be cast multiple times first. So not broken at all! On a serious note, I really hope I and others will be able to keep playing this build, it is really fun.
