By Taskmaster
This is a simple guide that covers the user-interface options that are not explained by the in-game tutorial, but will help you get started more quickly!

Introduction
Hello fellow gamer! I just wanted to throw together a quick guide on some of the less obvious user-interface items in Hell Girls. It isn't complicated but it is not mentioned in the quick in-game tutorial so you may not find it immediately, and miss some early opportunities to level up the young ladies.
Interface
One of the first screens you are presented with is the "store" panel, where you can buy a magic spell for each girl. This guide is not about telling you the best choices for increasing your favorite character's attributes as I will leave that up to your personal play style. Instead I will cover the "how to" parts. For example, how to find that spell you just bought so you can equip it!

To buy an item in the store click on the six-sided icon to the right of the item. In this screen shot the "buy" icon is disabled as I already purchased all three spells. (I just started the game but after reading some topics in the forum, it might be better to focus on leveling up a single girl. Again you will have to make that choice.)

Given that there is an open spell slot when you first start the game I assumed the newly purchased spell would automatically be equipped and appear there, but that is not the case. Instead you will need to equip the newly purchased spell yourself. This can be done from the character screen.

To access the character screen, click on any one of the three character portraits at the bottom of the screen: Fire Girl, Thunder Girl or Ice Girl.

Clicking on a portrait will bring up more details on that specfic character, as shown below. There are three tabs available in the character view, which can be accessed by clicking on the icons to the right. The first tab displays the lady's current attributes and skills, as well as any outfits you have acquired. Hover over an outfit to learn the advantages and/or disadvantages of wearing it, if any.

If you have the necessary "spiritual energy" (the green smoke) you can level up your character. The game will not tell you when you have enough energy to advance to the next level, so keep an eye out. Leveling is done by clicking on the yellow, up arrow icon.

The second tab is where you can modify the magical spells that you have equipped. Any spells you have purchased will appear her. You can only equip up to four spells so choose wisely, as they say.

The last tab appears to only be a "tutorial" display of the 3 levels of spell books the character can generate by creating long chains of tokens. I have not found much use for this tab yet. If that changes I will update the guide.

Interlude
Well, that's it for now. I hope you found something of value in this guide. I appreciate the time you took to read it. Any feedback is welcomed. Enjoy the game!

That is a question best asked in the forum. This guide doesn't cover that aspect of the game.

Simple and short: this saved me some time after I have just started playing about 20 minutes ago.
:-D
Thanks for the great tutorial.

Do you know what the stars above the enemies mean? Is this how good I have fought or something like that?

I've not played the game since the graphics were updated so I hope the guide is still accurate.

Thank you! I was wondering how to activate the skills I've been buying, but didn't even notice those tabs on the right.

Bottom slider is background detail. You can get spells from events or stores.
