Weapon Choices
Being good with weapons and also picking the right weapon are absolutely the biggest choices you have to make in this game. If you are planning to survive to the end you need to have an AR or AK with a decent amount of ammunition. PISTOLS SHOULD ONLY BE USED IF THAT IS ALL YOU CAN FIND. Being in the top thirty and having any type of pistol almost ensures that you will die before you can even think about getting in the top ten. I usually run with an AR and a shotgun. Use the shotgun indoors and at other close ranges. The AK or AR should be used at medium to far distances. When firing indoors I tend to use first person as I find it easier but everyone has a different preference. It is also a good idea to practice throwing grenades and getting use to their wait times. I never use the bow but I know players who absolutely love using it. Find what's comfortable for you and practice with it.

Key Points:
- Use the right gun at the right time.
- Be familiar with your weapon of choice.
- Stock up on ammo.
- Determine if you should be firing in first or third person.
Blending In & Clothing Choices
If you wish to survive longer in H1Z1 you may want to think about how you look in game. Weapon skins and other special camo is a great addon to the game but most of those skins actually decrease your chance of winning. You cannot hide well in a bright orange jumpsuit or a neon pink helmet. What I personally recommend is one of the green, tan, or navy blue shirts you can find while looting. This allows you to blend in the most with you surrounding environment. As for pants you may just want to stick with your starter jeans. The map is made up of mostly forest and these articles of clothing allow you to hide amongst bushes and trees the easiest.

One of the biggest parts of this game is finding the correct cover. Like I stated before with the outfits you need to find spots to hide that you can blend in well with. Trees with small particles of grass beneath them are perfect spots to hide. In open fields occasionally you can stumble across a big bush which also provides a suitable hiding place.

Key Points:
- Wear clothing for the environment you are in not for show.
- Using gun skins may be a no go depending on the skin.
- Find places to hide that match your colors.
- Hiding places are great if they provide the right cover you need at that moment.
Medical Needs & Armor
You should craft and find as many health kits and bandages you can. You can never have enough of these items as you will most likely need to use them frequently. You need these to be prepared for fire-fights or recovering from gas. If gas is approaching use a health kit even at 100 health so you do not get affected by it as quickly as you normally should. I try to have at least three med kits on me at a time and it is a good rule of thumb. Fill your extra room in your backpack with these wonderful items that will help you survive until the end!

You should craft body armor if you cannot find it while looting. It does not help much but it may give you the extra boost you need to get that winning kill. You need to scrap a military backpack, get duct-tape, and shred a helmet to make basic armor. Make armor a priorty and it should benefit you well. It is also a very good idea to have a spare helmet as well as the one you are already wearing. If you are shot and the helmet breaks you are left to be an easy headshot for a skilled player.

Key Points:
- Make of find armor ASAP.
- Take as many medical supplies you can carry.
- Wear a helmet at all times.
Transportation
Picking a car or other vehicle to get across the map faster is a good and bad idea. I personally try to use cars only when I really need to. They make a lot of noise and are fairly easy to take out. This also depends on your driving capabilities and location. If the gas cloud is following close and you are far from the safe zone a car is needed to ensure your safety. However nothing announces your presence more than the engine of a cop car or truck. Always put the keys to any car in your inventory. ATVs are also a bad idea do to there lack of cover however they do fit in smaller places. I prefer using the Jeep the most because I find it the easiest to handle. Yet again this is all to your preference and if you find that something works better for you then use it.

Key Points
- Take your car keys with you.
- Use transportation only when needed.
- Cop Car > Jeep > Truck > ATV

Lmao, you're doin somethin really wrong if you end up in the Top 18 with NO Ammo OR armor. Just saying. And HIDING? Get the hell out of here. im glad that with the next update kills will earn you more score.

Update 2:
This guide yet again is personal experience. To all those debating over clothing choices and gun camos it it meant for close range. Let's think hypothetically for just one moment. You are in the final 18 and the safe zone is small. You wish to survive and get a better place in-game but have no ammo and no armor. Blending in with the environment is the only way to last if you cannot defend yourself. Nobody is wrong or right these are simply just opinions. Thank you to the kind words and ratings. If you found this guide useful, rate it up please!

Happy Killing

when the toxic gets you, it will appear a red arrow on the top right of your screen. That arrow indicates where you have to go, to be able to be safe from the gas.
