Most EGA Sierra games (SQ 1/2, PQ 1/2, KQ 1/2/3, LSL 1/2) used their early engine, called AGI (Advanced Game Interpreter IIRC). Around 1991 Sierra began using their newer SCI (Sierra Creative Interpreter IIRC), retaining the AGI's text commands for awhile. Sierra's AGI and early SCI games are more of a challenge, as more precise character maneuvering and more specific commands are required. Playing these games now on modern equipment seems near impossible!
Sierra's VGA offerings (SQ4, PQ3, and KQ5 and later) used an upgraded SCI, incorporating a point-and-click interface (various cursors for different commands – look, point, action, etc), as opposed to command-line prompts in EGA versions. This, of course, includes the VGA PQ1 / KQ1 / SQ1 remakes -- hence the chronological confusion some may experience.
Some of the Puzzles are different while some are the same.
This guide is for the VGA Version of PQ1
