Final Fantasy VII: New Threat is a modification of the original Final Fantasy VII made by Sega Chief. Many could and would argue(myself included) that Final Fantasy VII is the best game ever made! However no game is perfect, and this mod strives to make it even better!

New Threat or "NT" tweaks just about EVERYTHING from the original game while aiming to still feel like the original at the same time. From characters fitting into more specific roles, to bosses having new AI's, everything is changed to make the game a tougher challenge!

Wow, has it ever been a long time since I last uploaded an FF7: New Threat video! Close to 4 months! Well we're back, because the Dark Cave is finally out, so it's time to take a stroll through this rather creepy custom side dungeon!

All of our teammates are now lost within the Dark Cave save for Barret and Tifa, and we need to go find them! So we're gonna start with Boss #1 - Amalgam who guarding Vincent and Red XIII. Knowing what the word "Amalgam" means gives you a clue as to what you're gonna need to do here by the way, but just in case you don't know this one, here's a quick Google search result:

So in simpler terms, you're going to need to mix up your attacks in order to win. Very precisely for the record, you need to alternate between physical and magical damage every time you deal one or the other. If you do not, Amalgam will grow in size. If he gets too big, he'll use a move that ejects your team from the battle, resulting in a Game Over, so pay attention better then I do!

You get Amalgam on a side attack and that's important because of the gimmick mentioned above. On side attacks you can deal extra damage hitting from behind, so make sure to have opposite damage type hitters on opposing sides. The bonus damage is important if you can get it because Amalgam's defenses are sky high. Be prepared to go the distance.

Amalgam itself has some tricks. Status effects for starters, so Resist and Ribbons are a good plan. It's worst status effect is probably Confuse. Amalgam also has an attack dealing 50% MP damage so MP can become scarce without Ethers.

It had no status weaknesses that I could find except for Slow, so use that if you fancy. Amalgam has a weakness to Earth and Holy so load up your team for those damage types.
