[PC] How to Import XV1 Hero into XV2 [including non-standard installation path]
By cOMMANDER
Hey all,

As an enthusiast DB fan and a Xenoverse 1 (XV1) player, I have decided to put out this walkthrough to assist those who are having issues importing their hero into Xenoverse 2 (XV2).

I had a tough time getting my hero from XV1 imported since my STEAM installtion was on my secondary hard drive and XV2 wasn't able to obtain the XV1 savegame for importing.

If you have a warning message during the initial import sequence upon starting XV2, indicating it's unable to locate the Xenoverse 1 savegame, then this guide should be able to help.

BACKGROUND
BACKGROUND

As you know, once you create your character in XV2 and eventually complete the 1st time patrol mission given by Elder Kai, you will be presented an option to import 1 of your 8 hero's to act as Conton City's Hero.

However, the issue many people are faced with is that their list of heroes don't appear (or fully appear) as there is several issues with the import process.

At times, you will not be able to import the characters because your XV1 savegames were having empty slots between the heroes or you have not imported the characters when presented with the 7-page screen to import data from XV1.

Also, there is a possibility that you may have correctly done so, but you are presented the "SAVE DATA FROM THE PREVIOUS GAME COULD NOT BE FOUND ON YOUR STEAM ACCOUNT. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE STEAM CLOUD ENABLED FOR DB XENOVERSE" message.

Not to worry as all of these issues come with a simple workaround but please remember that this involves the DELETION of your XV2 savegame.
PREREQUISITE
PREREQUISITE

- A valid (not bootleg/pirated/etc..) XV1 with Steam Cloud enabled
- All savegame slots in XV1 are populated (create some now if this isn't present)
- XV2 with Steam Cloud disabled
- The XV1 savegame path (default is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\{random_steam_id|\323470\remote\DBXV.sav
- The XV2 savegame path (default is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\{random_steam_id|\323470\remote\DBXV2\DBXV2.sav
STEPS
STEPS

1) Start XV2
2) Delete all your XV2 saves from the slots
3) Close XV2
4) Start XV2 again
5) At the "PRESS BUTTON TO START" page, go back to your Windows Desktop via ALT+TAB
6) Using File Explorer, go to the XV2 savegame path and delete the DBXV2.sav file while the game is running
7) Go back into the game via ALT+TAB
8) After going past the "PRESS BUTTON TO START" page, you will be presented that the savegame is corrupt and to load the savegame from the server
9) Accept and then you are prompted with the 7-page import XV1 savedata
10) Go through all the pages and proceed
11) You will get the message like "CARRY OVER/IN COMPLETE"
12) Now you can play your game as per normal and select the hero after the Elder Kai's first time patrol mission.
IMPORTANT INFO FOR NON-STANDARD STEAM / XV1 SAVEGAME PATH
IMPORTANT INFO FOR NON-STANDARD STEAM / XV1 SAVEGAME PATH

Now, this works for those who use the default STEAM installation path but if you're like me and have your STEAM installed on another path i.e D:\Steam\userdata\{random_steam_id|\323470\remote\, you will need to COPY the DBXV.sav into the default Steam path, as per the structure below :-

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\{steam_id}\323470\remote\DBXV.sav

*the steam_id should match the number given in your non-standard path*

Doing this correctly, all the folders would be empty except the last folder - "remote", that would contain the DBXV1.sav file.

This step can be performed after Step 6) and before Step 7) & ONLY needed if your installation of Steam or XV1 savegame is in a non-standard path.

Please ONLY proceed after understanding all the risks as I will not be liable for any loss or inconvenience caused. This method was tested using v1.08.00 of XV1 and 1.02.00 of XV2 as of 11/2/2016 & may be subject to change.

I would recommend to backup all your original files before deletion should the solution not work - remember to take note of the savegame paths & filenames as they can be very similar - DBXV.sav and DBXV2.sav.

First up, I'd like to give a special thanks to IzakayaBomber (Steam User) & Sehran Shaikh (GamePur) over their assistance & guidance for this walkthrough.

Below is the URL for Sehran Shaikh's walkthough on GamePur, which addresses this import issue and many others (with exception of the non-standard Steam and XV1 savegame path) :-

@C Sloth Demon - Most welcome and while I'm glad to know this works, I'm surprised that it remains an issue - even after 7 years. Nevertheless, enjoy DBXV2 as it's an excellent game and if you do meet the right people, an excellent community too!
