Thank you for that YES!
Release date: January 2018
Stage Fright is a game about anxiety, an exploration into the unsettling nature of performance. You are the teenage Damon Wilcott, a piano player whose history of perfectionism and past guilt comes to haunt him at every concert in the form of the supernatural Hannah. She's watching your every move, trying to throw you off and make sure you do not succeed.

The game is single player, with Guitar Hero-style beatmatching mechanics as well as horror elements that reveal themselves as you play. Ultimately the game mixes the fast paced speed and skill aspects of rhythm games with the slow atmospheric tension typical of horror games.

You will experience stage fright. The question is, how will you deal with it?

  • 9 original songs at release! Enjoy the haunting piano melodies of composer Larry Shen.
  • Procedural Horror! Our system will recognize how you play and mess up with you at the most effective parts.
  • Play on a computer keyboard or use a MIDI Controller! Stage Fright works with both.
  • Discover the story! Piece together the scares and environmental elements to figure out why Hannah is haunting you.

Download and play[] our Alpha build. Be wary it is a more limited experience than the full version.

Those are definitely some bugs you can find on the download... We have now redone the input system and the great/good registration but "miss" key bug is definitely resolved! I will give it a look on the keys other than the main ones counting as hits, and fix it asap! Thanks for the feedback!

Since I heard of this project I was excited, then I found the page and a free download, so I tried it out.
My soul problem that breaks the game for me is that it appears that at times I will hit a key, it will register as a "great/good" input, but then still give me a "miss" anyways. I'm confused if these are supposed to be held or other inputs are necessary for these keys, but it seems to occur at random so I doubt it.
Another gripe I had is that keys that were not "s d f j k l" would still be count as a "hit" on the piano, even though there are no keys bounded to it. There is a reason why other rhythm games such as Stepmania, Audiosurf, and osu! all don't register any keys that are not bound to in game keys, because pressing them by accident would mess up the whole "streak" or focus.
Combining these two together made this game impossible for me to finish. They felt like added difficulty to the game that was, obviously, not intended. Best of luck finishing this project!

Tried it at felt a bit early but the concept is exciting. More/shorter songs, more options, and more refinements will definitely make this worth playing. Voted yes!

The faces of impatient audiance are enough to make me mess up. I actually liked it when I was hitting the notes correctly. :steamhappy:

I really like this. It's a different approach to horror. I love it. :) I'm buying it as soon as it releases! :)
