Update #4 - Greenlit!
Update #3 - Q&A
Does the game have jumpscares?
No, not really. We don't think that scripted events happening at a certain locations is a good way to make a horror game. Gojigaboga is not a linear, story-based horror game. We focus more on a creepy atmosphere and interesting enemy interaction in an open world where the player makes the choices.

How do the enemies behave?
The enemies in Gojigaboga have an advanced AI that lets them wander around the building, open doors etc. When they spot a player they will pursue the player until the player is dead or until they lose track of the player. If they lose track of the player the enemy will start searching for the player, this includes opening closets and looking through windows etc. This is the standard AI pattern, each enemy type has some extra finesse added to this that we won't tell you =)

How do permadeath work in Gojigaboga?
Read our Update #1 - Permadeath

What parts are generated?
Spawn location, loot, doors, room illumination, some walls and furniture are randomly generated. The overall layout of the building will stay the same though.

What platforms will you support?
PC, Linux (and SteamOS), Mac. We haven't tested on all of these platforms yet, but it should work.

Release date: Late 2016

"You wake up in an abandoned apartment, how did you get here? Ok, get it together, let's collect some supplies. Hmm, what's that noise? I guess I'll hide in this closet for a while..."

Gojigaboga is a first person survival horror game where you have to escape an apartment complex. You navigate through the apartments, stairs, attic and basement to try and find a way out, fortunately there is more than one escape route. To be able to escape you need to make use of common household objects found in the apartments.

It wouldn't be right to leave you alone in the house right? Don't worry, we left you some terrifying creatures to keep you company while you try to escape. But don't get too friendly with them, they won't stop for a cup of tea. You have to move around carefully in the building, adapting to the environment and looking for any signs of the creatures. If you actually get spotted by one of the them you better have plan, smart decisions will save your life.

The visuals of Gojigaboga are simple and cartoonish with dim lighting and tight level design. The audio experience is creepy and unpleasant with sudden changes. Combined with the gameplay, this creates the feeling of loneliness and weakness.

  • Sandbox environment: Multi-story apartment complex fully furnished, including attic and basement. Explore the abandoned building to find out what really happened there
  • Different enemies: Each with different personalities to make your life miserable
  • Multiple escape routes: Try a different one each time you play
  • Session-based: The game is played in short sessions, escaping the house takes a few hours
  • Interactive environment: Break locked doors, cut padlocks, turn on/off lights, hide
  • Generated loot: Light sources, tools, collectibles and common household objects needed for crafting
  • Procedural generation: The environment will look different each time you play
  • Permadeath: If you die, you start all over again
  • Controller support: Play with a controller instead

Hypeatized Studios
We, the developers of this game, are Hypeatized Studios. We are two guys from Sweden and this is our first game. Our dream is to make games for a living and this is the beginning of that journey. We're working on Gojigaboga full-time and the release is planned for 2016 Q4. The game is currently in internal beta phase. If the PC launch goes well we plan to release Gojigaboga on XONE and PS4. We are also researching the possibilities of a VR version.
