Geometry dash - creating guide
От 7
This is a guide on how to be a better creator (focusing on design) :) At least it's better like the guides about "How to say hi" etc etc

Disclaimer
I'm not exactly the best creator, and I'm not an effects creator either, so if you're looking for an effects guide I'm sorry :(
If you think this guide sucks, go to RobTop's own creating guide: http://www.boomlings.com/files/GJGuide.pdf
Introduction
So you'd like to make levels? And not those fancy effect ones either, something more down-to-earth like design? Well, I guess I could help you with that:
This is a level by me which won 4th in DreamEater's cc so yeah :P
I'm gonna try my best to help y'all with creating in this so let's get started!
Basic trigger info
BG - Changes color of background
Grnd and Grnd2 - Changes color of the ground
Obj - Changes color of the solid objects (i.e. the ones the cube can land on)
3dl - Changes color of the 3d lines (i.e. the fake ones)
Col - Changes color of a certain color channel, depending on which one you set it to

Move- Moves an object
Alpha - Changes opacity of an object
Toggle - Toggles an object off or on. If off, you cannot hit the object in any way
Pulse - Fade in shows how fast the color fades in so set it to 0 for a quick flash. Hold shows how long the color stays there and Fade out shows how long it takes for the color to revert back to the original
Spawn - For triggers that are set to "Spawn triggered"

Here's a REALLYYYYYYY old trigger guide:
Config your level!
First off, you'll want to configure the stuff in your level:
1. Go to "create"
2. Hit "new" at bottom right
3: Hit the wrench icon to get into the editor

Now, important things in a level are the colors and the song, don't forget either! Here's how to configure them:
Select a color from the palette for "BG". And for "Grnd" and "Grnd2" select a darker variant of this, unless you want it to contrast you can! After all, it's your level and you could experiment till you get something you like. But for this guide, I'll use purple.

Next, for the song:
You can enter in the song ID or pick a song you already have saved. If you need help in this: Under the main config page click "Custom" under "select song" and click "Select cuztom song".
Basic level designs
-IMPORTANT-
If you want to know how to get a bigger item box at the bottom:
1. go to the editor
2. press the pause button at the top right
3. press the gear above "keys" at the bottom right
4. it should say there

You could use something simple for blocks:
This would make it easy to create a level with a simple design throughout.

Alternatively, you could add some deco to those blocks:
Which could add a little variety.

Designing some spikes to put on the ground would be good, too:
You can line the floor with these if you want the player to go on the blocks/add a bit to the design etc but NEVER do this:
The white arrows show that the floor spikes have no start and no end, which looks a bit unsightly so you should add those. The red arrow shows the spikes and the block overlapping which looks unsightly too.

Instead, you would want to do this so it looks better.
Gameplay
I'm the kind of person who makes the gameplay and deco as I go along. That's perfectly fine, but you could also make what's known as a layout first to deco later. IMPORTANT TO MAKE IT SYNC WITH THE SONG (the blue arrow button will play the music and the orange button will playtest the level in the editor.)

Here's an example of a layout:
It's a layout by my friend and I which syncs to the song "Partyt R Igng" by HolyYeah. To deco these is simple: pick a block design and fill in the blocks with that, pick some floor spikes and fill in those too.
Decoration
What kind of a level is complete without decoration?! In this section, I will show you some decorations you can use.

Stars:
The stars is found under the tab marked by a white circle. Steps on how to make this:
1. Take a star and add a color to it.
2. Copy paste it onto the same spot, and scale the copy pasted one to 0.85.
3. Color the scaled one black.
4. Use this:

Copy paste it around until you get a circle, then use the move buttons in "edit" to move it onto your star.

You can experiment with these until you get something you like:

Chains
These are easy to make:
1. navigate to the tab with a chain.
2. Put down a chain, and assign it a color.
3. Copy paste it and move it one step to the right/left.
4. Under "Edit group" assign it to "Bot" and change it to black.

Lasers
These are fine as spike deco or background deco, your choice. And they are VERY easy to make and look good, so that's a plus!
1. navigate to the tab that looks like some grass (idk how to describe it xD)
2. Select the laser piece (in blue)
3. Place one down and place another facing into it, you got a laser. Now do whatever you want with it!

Spike deco
Go crazy with these!

Final words
Well, that's all I got to say! I know the guide's not too complete, but I really didn't know what else to add xD
If you need help with creating, feel free to add me and I'll give you some tips and assistance :D
If you enjoyed, I'd appreciate it if you left a comment and a rating! Share the love ;3;)/

put a trigger on the same block as the key and make it so its Touch triggered so when you hit the key, the trigger will be there and do what you want the key to do
