IJN Shimakaze

The IJN Shimakaze was a one-off super destroyer commissioned but the imperial japanese navy in 1943.
She was the only destroyer capable of launching 15 torpedoes. The long-lance or type 93 torpedo. She was also a testbed for a new high temperature and high preassure steam engine capable of producing 79,240 shp. This made her one of the fastest destroyers in the world with a top speed of 39 kn.


She saw a bit of action in her life, in 1943 she was present at kiska island to evacuate troops. In 1944 she was also present in the battle of the philipine sea, she was also in the Battle of layte gulf although not playing a major role, she was picking up survivors from the sunked Yamato-class battle ship IJN Musashi. She was sunk in 1944 during the battle of ormoc bay. She was the flagship of Destroyer squadron 2 that was attacked by American aircraft from Task Force 38 she was sunk along with Wakatsuki, Hamanami and Naganami.

She was struck on the 10th of january 1945.

She is 129m long, 11m wide and 37m high, 5 metres in draft. Has mostly light alloy. Unfortunatley the draft had to be messed with as FTD doesnt allow too little draft.

Yes she is missing alot of weapons but I am pretty bad at building smaller ones. So if you want me to add them tell me and I'll try my best to get them on.
She has a rudder that turns just for asthetics.
