How to: Mule-mongering
By Val
For those of us who don't want to keep a copy of TQIT installed to make TQVault work, as well as those who don't trust an outdated one, I present my method of utilizing mule characters. Nothing revolutionary, but may not be obvious at the first glance.

Step 1: Create a Mule character

Easy, just create a new character. The main trick is to give your mules meaningful names so that you won't have a hard time remembering what exactly does this mule carry. On the screenshot above you can see that I had named my character "Epic Relics".
Step 2: Reach Helos

Easy as well. Conveniently, in TQ a character has an access to stash right at the first town. What's also convenient is that there's a spawn fountain right in the middle of the town, so be sure to activate it.

Pro tip: If you haven't got the "Masterful Start" achievement yet, consider this as a chance to give it a try.
Step 3: Collect Rings
Your mule would need the stash expansion, which is rather costly - 100000 for the first one and 500000 for the second. There is no way to transfer gold between characters directly, but there's a workaround. Go back to the character you're normally playing and collect rings and amulets. Actually, anything that can be sold will work, but I find rings/amulets being the most efficient way. Put your booty into transfer stash.

If your transfer stash is full then unload it to your mule's personal stash beforehand.

Step 4: ???
This is the most bothersome part, because you have to manually transfer all of the rings/amulets to your mule's inventory, and then sell them. The cost of the rings can vary a big deal depending on affixes, but for selling in Helos the price caps at 10000 anyway, still don't expect for every high-level ring to cap the price. The rings at the screenshot gave me around 497000 total. If you haven't cashed 600000 with the first try - no problem, get the rest later on.

Step 5: Profit!
Basically, you're done.

There's one more tip I have for you. Keep your transfer stash mostly empty and don't use it for long-term storage. It's just too small and not worth it anyway. Use it as a buffer to feed gold to your mules and transfer gear between your main characters and mules.

Hope it will be at least marginally helpful to someone.

Just one little thing. I know this guide was made years ago, but that's why I want to say this, in case someone doesn't know or hasn't noticed: with the new Ragnarok expansion there's an option to create a new character at level 40 (supposedly to play directly the expansion, as it sets you at the beginning of it) that also spawns you with enough gold to purchase directly all chest spaces, so now you don't need the ring trick if you have Ragnarok.

Val, so you can create a guide about using TQ Vault and get a lot of likes and thanks :steamhappy:

@hukutka94 The guide was written back at the time when there was no TQVault fully compatible with AE. Once the new UI was released I stopped using mules.

You can always find an open multuplayer game and ask for gold...

There is a version of TQ Vault that you can use on AE without problems. :steamhappy:

My 2 cents: name is good, but I also equip the mule with equipment that is representive of its content. Say my mule is carrying spears. I will make sure the mule is ALSO equiped with a spear. So when you are in the selection screen you can see what the mule is carrying.

This is useful because sometimes the mule carries multiple kinds of items, and the name cannot reflect exactly the content it is carrying. You may think making a new mule is better, but it is pretty time consuming to find/buy those rings and do the transfer.

Personally I use health potions instead of rings to transfer money. Still time consuming, and it is not cheap, but my main is slowly grinding to lvl 75 and is very rich.

i wanted to throw in a quality of life tip. have all your mules begining with same letter(s). for instance "x epic relics" or "z casterstuff". this way all your mules will be next to eachother on character select since they are ordered alphabetically. hope this tip helps someone :)

You don't need to keep a copy of TQIT installed to make TQVault work: link . Works like a charm with TQVault XL.

Just in case. E.g. I crafted a divine artifact but didn't like the extra bonus, so I would need to craft maybe 1 or 2 more before I'm satisfied. That sort of thing.
