Your adventure begins in a small inn called "Winter Cradle". Right at the beginning speak with the bartender and insistently ask her for drinks. She will tell you about bugs, that are problematic. Go down to the basement and kill them. As a reward you get a few coins and some experience. Go outside, and head to the Pomaba’s store (east of the pub) - you can buy there some equipment.

Then go to a small house standing on the water's edge. Old Jed lives here and he will ask you to bring a bottle of wine from the Pomaba’s store. You'll get the gold + experience. Then speak with a man standing next to the boats. As it turns out his name is Jhonen and he has strange dreams. Promise him that you solve his problem. To do this, go to the small coast in the south-west corner of the map. There is a nymph; if you have a bard in the team, let him lead the conversation, and you will get experience. Talk to her about Jhonen and get a sword that need to be pass him. Next return to Elisii (the nymph). As a reward for this task you will receive a pearl and a little experience.

When you will be passing the nymph you will probably see a gray-haired guy standing next to one of the houses. It is Apsel - skrymszander, who will ask you to kill a wolf in his workshop. The door is closed, and so open the lock by a thief or let your warrior breach them. After killing a wolf you will get experience and a dagger. Now go exactly the other side of town. On the bridge you will meet a frightened boy who asks for the recovery his fish. Cross the bridge and kill a pair of goblins. With this armored one there is fish, which must be given to the boy. Now go Hrotgar’s hause. It is the top row of the huts in the town’s center. Talk to Hrotgar and ask him about the problems. He will tell you about the caravan. Exit Easthaven by the way across the bridge and go to some small location.

Right at the beginning an easy fight against three wolves awaits you. Next step is to find the entrance to the cave and watch the caravan’s cars standing in front of it. In the middle there are orcs awaiting for you. Somewhere in a cave you will meet the ogre, who has a contract with the caravan. In the boxes you can find interesting items. Sometimes there is an instrument for the bard, and sometimes shoes that gives Blurr spell once a day.

Return to Easthaven. Go to the home that is marked as "A fish merchant". Inside you will show to the man named Gaspar your caravan contract. Then go to Hrotgar and tell him what you had found; You will get a second task, however, much easier. You have to take a list to Pomaba. Do it and return to Hrotgar. After talking with him leave the map to Kuldahar.
Kuldahar Pass

This site is full of goblins. In the mill a group of orcs established a base. They will want gold, but treat them with swords. At the bottom of the mill behind the door, which is under the stairs stands a little boy - Jermsy. Give him reassurance, and you'll get experience. In the tower you will meet a sick ogre. He has a headache. If you have a druid you can heal him and if not heal him by cutting him. To the north is the passage to a small cave-dwelling site. Once you've got all of this done go through the stone bridge east to Kuldahar.

Talk to the boy at the beginning of the meeting. You will learn a few things. Now enter the building marked as a shop - here you can buy some cool instruments for the Bard. In the northwest corner of this location is the tower - Orric's mage's house. At the bottom you will meet his servant Goblins Weenog. Ask Orrick for everything you can, and you'll find out that the magician is looking for books about Mythalas - powerful elven spells. You can also buy him with spells and good magical items. Now go to the big house facing 3 stones. This is Arundel Arundel's cottage that will tell you about the troubles of the haunting city and will point you to the Shadow Valley. In the north of the map is Conlon's forge - it has cool items for sale. There is also a flying ship, Oswald Fiddlebender lives in it and sells potions. Now go to the pub called "Root Cellar". Talk to the bartenders, and one (Amelia) will tell you about the suspicious innkeeper. Go to him and ask for the previous owner. The visitor gets nervous but does not let the couple loose. Go upstairs and search the cabinets. In one of them you will find a ring that shows to the owner of the pub, and he must go to the elders of the city. At the bridge you will meet a frightened guest (Mirka), who will help to kill the Yeti. He asks for a family memorial from the Shadow Valley. Now you have to sew and go to the Valley. There is a difficult crossing for inexperienced players.

Valley of Shadows and Kresselack's Temple

Outside, you will meet Yeti and Minor Shadows. Search all the crypts (you will find all kinds of deads in them) because you will find many interesting things and keys. Especially watch out for traps. There is also a cave in this site; You will find it below this great statue. Before you enter, you will meet the Yeti chieftain - he has got the family memorial of Mirek. There is still a Yeti in the cave and lots of interesting items. Now head to the largest crypt. A tough fight awaits you, and the crypt itself has 3 levels. It will be hard, but what: At the first level you will meet a guest named Mytos. In conversation, try to convince him that you have peaceful intentions and want to avoid fighting, and you will get some extra experience. However, you will have to kill him. Still on this level you will meet the Myrkul Messenger. You can only kill him with magical weapons. The entrance to the second level is in the leg from the chamber of Mytosa. Go all the way until you reach the great hall, followed by the spirit of Kresselack (king of barbarians). He will tell you that he will answer your questions as you will do him a favor (not for free). You have to kill the priestess Auril. It is located in a cave in which were the Yeti. However, it turns out that it is one of the bartenders in the pub (Lysan). After finishing her (with her bodyguards), go back to Kresselack and tell him that the matter has been settled. The reward will let you search your tomb. Now go back to Arundel and say what you learned in the Shadow Valley and will send you to the Temple of Forgotten God. But before you go there, go back to Mirek to finish his quest, and to the bartender in the pub and tell him about the clash in the valley and ask for the priestess's things. Now you can move to the next location.
Temple of the Forgotten God
It is not very large as in comparison to others. You will meet the Acolites and the Verbeegs and find many useful items. Make your way with a sharp sword until you reach the third level. At one of the bodies you will find a vial that you need to take to Arundel. The Archdriud will send you on another mission to Dragon Eye this time.

You don't need a Druid to heal Gherek the Ogre. You can ask Arundel for a cure, yes I know you have to go back and actually give the Ogre said cure but it's easy XP, i think more than just killing him.

thjs game is crap. monster way overpowering. give your party best items also useless. Monosters can cast spells non stop and it doesn't even hurt its own.

I am having a problem at the end of the game when I import characters to Heart of Winter. The game takes away my bag of holding and all my bags and cases. Is there any way to keep all my treasure from Icewind Dale?

@Salvo You need a magical item to injure them. I haven't played the game unmodded in a long time, but I'm pretty sure just a +1 is adequate. You should have no trouble getting a +1 of something on at least one character. If you are, you may need to hit the shops.

I have run into a SHADOW (not a Lesser Shadow) in the Valley of Shadows that I cannot kill, subdue or escape. I had one scroll that affected it so at least it's INJURED, but I don't have any magical weapons or spells that even touch this creature, while it continues to tear my team up! I almost feel this must be a glitch of some kind because of how impossible the situation seems...any suggestions?

I am having problems exiting Easthaven. The game will not let me continue outside of the town.
