The vital importance of BULLETS

A simple and intuitive beginner's guide about the fundamental mechanics of Insurgency.

Introduction

Welcome all, recruits and veterans, insurgents and security forces, to the best and most efficient training you'll ever get about the game Insurgency.

Insurgency is a tactical-squad based-shooter with a peculiar aim for realism. The game takes place in a middle-eastern scenario similar to Iraq/Afghanistan as the forces of the Insurgents (the local militia) fight against the invading Security army (standard western army -> USA).

The two belligerent parties have similar class systems and equipements.

But that doesn't matter for your formation.


The only thing you absolutely, categorically, extremely, couldn't mark that out more that this, need is BULLETS.

What is a bullet?

War has been a thing through all mankind's history.

In the ancient times, wars were long and gruesome because them primitives didn't have bullets back then.

But now we have them. How many we have? A LOT!

A bullet is a little piece of condensed glory, your best friend and your worse enemy put together in a tiny metal bit that travels really fast while going PEW PEW PEW BOOM BOOM.

They come in many forms but you don't care.

Just have and use them.

- Shooting is for spoiled brats, using bullets is for heroes. -

Choosing your bullets

Both factions share the same options for bullets.

While in-game, press the "M" button on your keyboard to access your equipement, go to your primary weapon and choose your favourite kind of bullets between:

- Tracers: They go PEW PEW PEW faster when you're close to ending your magazine. They warn you so you don't run out of bullets, because they love you so much.
- HPs: They shred through the enemy's limbs easier. Their favourite colour is blue and they like musicals.
- APs: Tough guys, they are better when put into the enemy's hard bits, like his chest or his head. They love kittens.

These bullets are not all free, they come at a cost and you must pay it because they have families to feed.
Tracers come at +0 Equipement Points (EP from now on), HPs cost +2 EP and APs cost +3 EP.


If you don't like these bullets you can always use the standard ones. Nothing special apart from the fact that ALL BULLETS ARE SPECIAL!

- You both want and don't want this to happen. Be human, think about its children, don't waste your bullets. -

Ok, got it....but how do I use bullets?

That's a good question, I like you.

Yeah yeah, you on the other side of the monitor, I'm talking right to you.


The art of using bullets is really simple to learn but hides a long and harsh road before reaching the true perfection.

Basically, you take bullets, you see the enemy, you point your bullets at him and you use them. That's it.

But remember, your enemy is going to use bullets on you too, so find a good spot before using your bullets.

Final questions

Q: How many bullets must I use to be successful?
A: ALL. OF. THEM.

Q: Do I need a gun for using bullets?
A: It's not mandatory but it can help.

Q: My bullets are cheating me with another soldier, what should I do?
A: Take other bullets and make your old bullets jealous, show them what they're missing by staying with another guy. Then wait for the right moment and use your bullets on the betrayer. Take back your bullets.

Q: The fighting seems to be in favour of the enemy, any tips?
A: Insurgency is a really tactical game, so find a good cover and start using more bullets than the other team.

Q: I'm out of bullets....and now?
A: You're lying. Get your bullets and go use them before I report you as a deserter.

Q: I'm using bullets but they don't connect with the enemy's squishy parts, are they defective?
A: No, you're simply using your bullets the wrong way. Bullets are perfect, bullets-users are not.

Q: Bullets?
A: BULLETS!

Now you're ready!

That's all you need to know about Insurgency.

You don't need tips about maps, game modes, tactics, equipements and all that stuff.
Just get into the game and use your bullets well.
