Dueling (Combat)
From experience, enemies will mostly attack, then defend, then attack, then defend.

Exceptions
  • Praying = If the enemy prays, you will be forced to pray in the following turn!
  • Throwing Daggers = Some skeletons might throw a dagger at you.
  • Deflections = Some enemies can deflect your attacks, especially throwing daggers.

Tips
  • Defend when the enemy attacks.
  • Attack when the enemy defends.
  • You can preview your movements by hovering over the card option.
  • Try to stay at the center of the board to reduce the chances of getting knocked off.
  • The Excalibur sword from the dungeon will make duels easier.
The Dungeon (Pungeon)
The Dungeon becomes surprisingly easy after a few playthroughs, do not worry!

Basics
  • Golden doors will provide you with a chest which might contain a key.
  • Find the air door after having acquired a key to escape the dungeon.
  • While in the dungeon, you will constantly lose value in all of your spheres.
  • Skeletons might confront you, fighting them and winning will provide a sharp increase in all of your spheres.

Tips
  • Always fight skeletons unless your stats are extremely high.
  • Act fast; the more time you spend contemplating, the more stats you lose and the more likely you are to encounter another skeleton whereby you would be forced to fight it.
  • Learn the door symbols to make faster decisions; you wouldn't need to read the text anymore.
  • Do not open arsenic doors as they could be trapped.
  • Loss of stats is paused during fights!

Key Information
The doors seem to always be the same. As such, you can figure out the patterns relatively fast. The door to pick next will nearly always be hinted at on the text provided in a room.

Dangers
  • Salt + Arsenic
  • Arsenic + Breaking A Wall

Spoilers

The Sword / Power door: Excalibur, the sword, gives you a significant rise in your dueling skills!
There is also a secret section in the dungeon. Information can be found further below under the devil section.
Finding A Lover (Romances)
  • The Jester might tell you that the public would love to see you with a lady. Agreeing to this will trigger a lady to ask you to spend time together in public.

  • The Queen sometimes invites her sister over for festive activities. The sister will then proceed to ask you why the queen does not like her. Tell her that it might be your fault and tell her that you love her. Fight her but attempt to lose the fight. She will see that you are wondered and takes care of you!

  • The Mage might offer to teach you in white magic. Say yes and choose the love option. Choose one of the characters she provides as an option to fall in love with.
Dog(e) Interactions! (Transport)
The dog provides several different options with the following effects:
  • Throne Room = No Effect
  • Dungeon = Enters the dungeon.
  • Play Ball = Play ball with the dog -> trigger this 50 times for a note!
  • Wagon = See the Fortune Teller.
  • Forest = Grants you the ability to see stat changes and current stat values at the expense of being unable to see the magnitude some cards have on certain spheres.
The Bird (Black or White)
In your first few playthroughs, you will be met with the option to trust a white or a black bird. Whichever one you trust, will stick with you for the rest of the playthrough. The two birds provide different cards and effects on your spheres throughout this playthrough till you reset your game. Be sure to pick the other bird on your next playthrough to see its respective cards and fill up your total cards seen stat if you are looking to complete the game!

The Vase (Important)
You will meet The Vase inevitably through The Doctor. The Vase will ask for you to fetch it the Frozen Blood.

  1. Wait for the prompt by The Mage to teach you some white magic.
  2. She will ask you to prove yourself worthy through completing her quest (survive 15 years after talking to her).
  3. Completion of the quest will provide you an option for a Red Gem or The Crown; select the Red Gem.

Perks

  • The Vase will provide you with free stats from time to time.
  • The Vase can randomly grant you eternal life, allowing you to reach an infinitely high score if you keep your spheres balanced (you won't die from old age at 60+ years with this king).

Spoilers

The Vase is very important in defeating The Devil. More information below!

Beating The Devil! (Spoilers)
A tale of crusades, dungeons, and strawberries. Extreme spoilers lie ahead!

This is a solution to one of the biggest riddles in the game.

Prerequisites
If you would like to attempt to solve this riddle yourself, here are some tips. Note that the optional prerequisites provide a lot of information on how to beat the devil!
  • Vase Questline - Aquire The Frozen Blood
  • Basic Knowledge of Dungeon - Defeating Skeletons, Getting There, Door Effects
  • Unmasking The Senate (Optional)
  • Learning How To Trick The Devil Through The Mage (Optional)

Beating The Devil
Hover over the shaded black areas below to reveal all of the spoiler information. Due to steam formatting, this section looks somewhat buggy if not hovered over. There is nothing I can do about this :(
The Dungeon

  1. Enter the dungeon
  2. Find a torch from a Gold room chest.
  3. Enter the Fire door.
  4. Enter the Arsenic door.
  5. Enter the Acid door.
  6. Break the wall.
  7. Enter the Salpeter door.
  8. Enter the Devil door.

The door sequence correlates to the dates the Mage provides you. If you look at the timeline post/pre-game you can see symbols at each one of these dates. These symbols represent the order in which you should open the doors as listed above.

A skeleton will confront you; attack him (do not flee). He will trigger a fetch quest whereby you need to get strawberries for him.

The Strawberries

  1. Start a crusade.
  2. Wait for the Vase card.
  3. Use it to create strawberries.
  4. Enter the dungeon again.
  5. Use the same sequence to meet the skeleton.

The skeleton will, in turn, help you out when a sphere of influence gets low, providing you with yes/no options on playthroughs. Use the devil's curse that you acquire next to answer yes to him, in turn beating the devil since the skeleton is the devil!

Thanks to all who contributed to the solution, especially everyone in the Devil Tactics discussion!
Starting Over (Resetting)

Uhhh the skeletons ( in the dungeon ) stopped spawning, I don't get why... do I have to reset the game to make them spawn again? That's very weird...
Mr_Playtinum Sep 16, 2022 @ 9:50am
On a related note, I've noticed that the text in the dungeon and the symbols above the doors aren't consistant with one another. As in, the game claims that two different symbols are "neutral doors"
Mr_Playtinum Sep 16, 2022 @ 9:31am
So... I've never had a fire door be followed up by an arsenic door, only the acid/water choice. Am I missing something?

Confused....

Wait for the Vase card.
Use it to create strawberries.

When I do, it says I don't know/have anything to create or whatever

The Urban: offer the werewolf lady funds to open a trendy bar at the docks, then get invited to investigate said bar.
