Unreal Tournament 2004 Ultimate Edition

This guide compiles game fixes, all community bonus packs and some carefully selected extras to enhance your UT2004 experience.

Introduction

The Steam edition of Unreal Tournament 2004 is but a shell of the full experience, the Editor's Choice Edition only includes a handful of maps taken from the Community Bonus Packs.

The editor's choice edition of Unreal Tournament 2004 was a 2-DVD special edition of the game with some bonus content, including four Onslaught maps, three Onslaught vehicles, six new characters, and eleven mods. The second disc included the same video tutorials included with the special edition of the initial release.

Soon after the ECE went on sale, the bonus game content - minus the tutorial videos - was made available for download by existing owners of the game. The three new vehicles, the SPMA, Cicada, and Paladin, are able to be used in stock and XP maps through the Bonus Vehicles mutator. Also included were four new maps using the vehicles, ONS-Adara, ONS-IslandHop, ONS-Tricky, and ONS-Urban. Most of the mods included in the ECE were winners or finalists in Epic's Make Something Unreal Contest. The user created mods included in this release were:

CTF-DE-LavaGiant2

This is the only UT2003 map that wasn't included in UT2004 due to collision holes during conversion. This version has the collision holes fixed and the map has been converted to support UT2004.

ONS-Aridoom + ONS-Ascendancy

Two maps were released by Epic mappers Clawfist and Nathillien through Gamespot using an installer that limited limited itself to Windows XP. The maps were soon redistributed by others without the installer, allowing anyone to use them. The maps in this package were ONS-Aridoom and ONS-Ascendancy.

Community Bonus Pack 1: UT2004 Re-Release

UT2004 version of developer-certified fan maps for UT2003. This map pack is re-release of the critically acclaimed Community Bonus Pack - originally released for UT2003. All of the maps have been converted in one way or another from very subtle changes to new layouts and designs, along with various bug fixes.

Developer-approved fan-made maps. Contains 21 new maps, 4 characters, and a mutator.

Community Bonus Pack 2: Volume 2

Second half of the map pack. Contains 20 new maps, 4 skins and 2 mutators to play with.

Ultimate Community Map Packs (Vol. 1-4)
Have been purposefully omitted, I have personally tried all 44 maps and they do not hold a candle to the original / community maps not in quantity nor in quality. They were never acknowledged by Epic Games.

UT2004 Mega Pack
Contains latest official patch (3369), all of the Editor's Choice Pack's bonus content, as well as 9 new maps. These 9 maps are included in the Community Bonus Pack 2.

Notes and Appeal to the Community

I tried making a package with these maps, dubbing it "Ultimate Edition Bonus Pack" or "UEBP" for short, unfortunately I can't get in touch with some of the maps' creators, so there is no point in making an half crippled pack.

You can try and contact them if you want, to make this package a reality, but please remain civil and respectful.

If you know some copyright loop that could help out, you're welcome to suggest it.

UPDATE: It has come to my attention that there is no legality stopping me from creating a map pack out of maps uploaded to mapraider.com

If you love the Unreal Tournament Series, I urge you to play the free Pre-Alpha Unreal Tournament 4. You can suggest changes, bug test, map test, design characters, etc; Helping the development of the game, so hopefully the series goes on for a long time.

To make it clear for everyone, none of the stuff in this guide ever came with any version of UT2004 except for the "Make Something Unreal Contest" mods which you can download yourself, just google the mods. Absolutely fucking stupid that these are the only items without a direct link despite the fact these mods were the only thing missing from the original Editor's Choice disc.

None of the content in this guide is official content except for the "ONS-Aridoom + ONS-Ascendancy" XP Pack, and arguably "CTF-DE-LavaGiant2" which is just a map ported from UT2003 but with modifications to the layout that weren't in the original map.
