You want the amazing loot of the wall of flesh but afraid you'll die? Well, if you listen to me you will most probably succeed.

The Underworld

Data: Everyone who has played Terraria knows how hard it is to get to the underworld and survive there without being completely deystroyed. The underworld is full of dangerous enemies that could kill you within thirty seconds. So you shoud come prepped for the lurking monsters of the underworld.
In the underworld the true most dangerous beast is the lava that is impossibe to get out of, reeks tons of damage, and creates a burning effect is a worthy foe in the end. Also while your down there you should pick up a hellforge.

Mining: To get there I suggest a demonite / crimtane pickaxe to be able to mine hellstone to upgrade you gear. Getting there with the pickaxe should be easy if you go straight down and empty out any water and AVOID THE LAVA when you get down there. To make a working tunnel put wood platforms every 7-ish blocks. Make sure you put the hole in an easy accesible area close to spawn so if you die it wll be easier to get back down. Put a platform at the bottom so you don't die horribly

Certain Dangers:
1. Knockback Itself: This can cause serious consequences including dying in the middle of combat but it can be avoided with an obsidian sheild and obsibian skin potions
2.Hellbats: These things are everywhere but, they don't pack a wallop. Worst case scenario, they swarm you, putting out tons of damage
3.Lava Slimes: They are like slimes except they can give a burn effect.
4.Fire Imps: The worst thing about them is that their fireballs can peirce through walls and they teleport randomly
5.Demons:
-Norm: These demons aren't very bad as long as you don't get hit by their attack, they drop the demon scythe
-Arch: These only appear in mobile/console but they drop the crystal storm spell
-Voodoo: These are by far the rarest and they come in handy to get the guide voodoo doll

Gear

Armor: Defense is vital in boss fights and you'll need a lot of it. Hellstone armor is suggested for this big fight and make sure it's not on vanity or you will horribly die (probably). Hellstone is an ore that sets you on fire when you touch it and you can only mine with demonite / crimstone. Using other armor such as jungle or crimson / demon sets. These all meet requirements but with hellstone there is less of the price with more of the cost.

Enchantments: You can enchant or reforge using the goblin tinkerer. If you get a bad forge dull, you can put the weapon in the spot above his merchendise and he names his price. It is reccomended that you reforge all your armor to the best you can go. The best forge is unreal for guns, legedary is best for melee, mythical is best for magic.

Weapons: The Night's Edge would be the best sword for this occasion saying it is the best sword of pre-hardmode which is pretty hard to get. So here's how you get it.

How to Get the Night's Edge:
1. You must mine crimtane / demonite and craft the sword of it's element (Blood Butcherer or Light's Bane)
2.You must craft the Blade of Grass with jungle spores and stingers dropped from hornets
3.You must plunder into the dungeon and find a golden chest containing the Muramasa
4. The hardest is for last, you must mine hellstone and create the Fiery Greatsword
5.Craft at an altar

Gear part 2

The night's edge is the best pre-hardmode sword but you can also use things such as tridents, spears, and maces.

Tridents/spears: Tridents have long range but are vunrable closer up to small enemies. The best pre-hardmode spear is the dark lance and could be a great defense to the wall of flesh as a long range weapon. It is found in most shadow chests that you unlock with shadow keys

Yo-yo: yo-yos are a significant weapon that can be used basicly from the beggining of the till the very end of the game. The best yo-yo of pre-hardmode is the cascade which is dropped by any enemies in the underworld after skeletron has been defeated. It has a 1/4000 (0.025) chance of dropping.

Boomerang: boomerangs can do some good in fight and can be found in some small places. The best boomerang is the flamerang which is crafed using 10 hellstone bars and an enchanted boomerang which is in most golden chests in the underground.

Mace: maces are useful because they are ranged and do lots of damage. The best pre-hardmode mace would bethe sunfury, found sometimes in shadow chest opened by the shadow key in the pluderful dungeon.

Guns: guns are very good in situations where you don't need to use much ammo. The guns that could be used to go against the wall of flesh, these two are the minishark and phoenix blaster. The minishark can be bought from the arms dealer for 35 gold and with the bullets sold from him. It can be used to ward off the hungry when they overwhelm you. The phoenix blaster can be crafted using 10 hellstone bars and the handgun (found in the dungeon). With steel bullets in the phoenix blaster you can accurately hit the eyes and take him out. The best ammo for this occasion would be the metor shot crafted with musket balls and a meteorite bar.

Wands: Wands are ranged magic weapens that can be useful in the right situation and some are crafted and named after certain jewels. The best wand would be the flamelash found in shadow chests. This you unlock with a shadow key which, once again this comes from the dungeon.

Spell tones: Spell tones can be used as powerful wands that use more magic. The demon sythe and water bolt are very useful in the boss fight because of range and damage. Water bolt is found in the dungen and demon sythe is rarely dropped from demon.

Summoning: summons are useful pets that do damage and fly around you shooting or intercepting enemies. The best sumoner item is the imp staff that summons an imp that shoots fire balls at opposing enemies.

Bows: bows are long ranged gravity affected weapons. The best bow is the bee's knees that when it hit it peirces through the enemy and outputs some bees. It is found by a drop by the queen bee. It has a thirty-three percent chance of dropping.

Potions

Potions give buffs to you or debuffs for enemies and can come in extremely handy in boss fights like the wall of flesh so here's a list of potions and their reason that they would be useful

Ammo Reservastion potion = Deacreaases chance to consume ammo by 20%
Archery potion = increased arrow speed and damage by 20%
Calming potion = decreases spawning of the hungry
Heartreach poition = increases pickup range 8 minute for life hearts
Lifeforce potion = increses max life by 20% (only in chests)
Inferno potion = summons a fire ring around you
Ironskin potion = increases defense by 8
Magic power potion = increased magc damage
Mana regeneration potion = increased mana regen
Obsidian skin potion = provides immunity to lava, meteorite, and hellstone
Regeneration potion = provide health regen
Summoning potion = +1 minion capacity
Swiftness potion = increased movement speed
Thorns potion = attackers take damage
Titan potion = increased knockback
Healing potion = restores 100 health
Mana potion = restores 100 mana
Pad Thai = Well fed, 10 minutes
Pho = Well fed, 15 minutes
Cooked Fish = Well fed, 20 minutes
Bowl of soup = Well fed 30 minutes

Setup

Data: It Would be hard to go head on to the wall of flesh without doing some thing to help you survive, regenerate, and overall make it through the boss fight without dying so you need placable items to give you buffs and help you through the boss fight. These object are things such as fireplaces and mana lanterns, statues can help too, giving their effect of healing and regeneration.

Style: To defeat the wall of flesh there are certain cautions
-Lava: You have to avoid it
-Enemies: Cause damage
-Hellstone: Burn Effect
The Soulutions
-Lava: cover it up
-Enemies: Healing effect
-Hellstone: Mine it out of your way
The Overall soulution style?
-A platform measuring several hundred blocks with fireplaces and mana laterns with some statues dotted in between

Don't doubt, this is an actual style that will get you through hell.

The Boss Fight

THE WALL OF FLESH

You are ready for the wall of flesh. If you listened to this guide you could succeed. But there is one more thing I must tell you before you go. To defeat this boss you have to use magic the most except when the mouths are swarming you and you must use your sword and then back to magic and just keep running backwards and with the demon sythe or whatever you should keep on hitting him. The eyes are the most vulnrable spot so if you have a fast bow use that too. Keep on striking him on and on. A useful weapon is the waterbolt magic book. Make sure the wall of flesh doesn't pass you or you will be knocked backed badly and lose tons of health and when you get really low on health, use a heath potion and mana potion if you need to. Speaking of potions bring every single one you have, except for the ones that teleport you. With all the buff and magic don't forget to watch out if your platform ends.

also replying to earlier comment, lifeforce potions can be obtained in pre-hardmode, just in pots/chests, same with thorns potions in the jungle :)
