Progress Update
Description
Release date: Late 2017
Enter the realm of Wesnoth! Fight to regain the throne, of which you are the legitimate heir. Battle against the undead hordes of an invading Lich. Delve deep into the depths of the earth on a quest to craft a Sceptre of Fire. Cross the oceans as the first settlers of a new land. Or guide a ragtag group of survivors across the desert wastes as the unrelenting suns scorch the earth. The choice is yours...

The Battle for Wesnoth is a turn-based tactical strategy game with a high fantasy theme, featuring...
  • Over two hundred unit types, sixteen races, seven major factions, and hundreds of years of history
  • Sixteen exciting, full-length campaigns
  • Multiplayer and co-op (LAN or hotseat) support
  • Support for creating your own exciting scenarios, maps and campaigns
  • A large, dedicated community of fans and modders

Developed as an open source game since 2003 by a group of volunteer developers with support from the community, we're finally hoping to release on Steam! As it has always been, the game will be absolutely free, and any updates to the game will be distributed both via Steam and our other distribution channels. We update the game constantly, delivering new features and bug fixes.

You can download the game right now to try it out here:

Steam community groups are pretty self contained. Just drop a sticky thread at the top saying any support requests should be directed to the forums with appropriate URLs. Should be enough.

*Yuki*, Under the Burning Suns is getting new character portraits. I think that's the extent for this release, however.

Do you have plans to keep improving visuals of character images? (e.g not units - they are awesome, but these images, that show, who s talking. Lot of them feels like placeholders atm)

We have a discord channel here: https://discord.gg/tSmJS2E .
Either than this, the current state is that the dev team won't support much of the community here in steam. So, if there are any steam users who need help or want to support others or anything alike, there are the official forums here: https://forums.wesnoth.org .
That might change at some point though, but that's all there is for now.

Is there a steam group? We are going to have to help new players when this drops on steam.

Is there a steam group for this? We are going to have to help new players who don't know how to play.

Just as an update: there have been some concerns raised with the performance of the first beta version, and certain parts of the code need to be completely reconsidered. It's not that the game isn't playable on reasonably modern hardware, but we'd like to avoid a massive requirements increase over 1.12 to avoid stranding part of our player base. We want to make sure as many people as possible can keep enjoying the game.

Wesnoth already has a Steam app ID, so there's no doubt that it will be released. In general, I'm pretty sure that any games that have already been greenlit are safe to continue under the old system; only those that have not yet been greenlit (or haven't even started the process) will need to submit under the new rules.

Although the game came out a long time and is present on Android and ios.
I would like to see Battle for Wesnoth in STEAM.
