The Console

This section is for those not familiar with the Morrowind console.

What is a Console?

A console in terms of applications is a command line interface normally embedded into the applications themselves. It is used by many applications (including steam!) for the purpose of debugging.

How to open the Console

Press the tilde/grave accent key (~ or `), also known as the "squiggly line". This should open a box that looks like this:

There are two ways to reference an object in the console. the first way is to open the console while the object that you want to interact with is is view. Then simply click the object and the top of the console should change from "Console" to "Console (Object ID)". Always double check to make sure if the object you are trying to manipulate is selected before doing so.

The second method is typing the objects ID (for example iron_dagger) and then putting an arrow in front of it (iron_dagger->some function).

with COC you have to type in town names differently than they are sometimes. I forget what they exactly are but if the town name has any sort of parenthesis then you have to put single quotations around the town name and it should work.

You forgot the COC commands. For example COC Balmora teleports you to Balmora. Or rather on a hill just on the edge of Balmora.

I can't believe that this guide has more commands than the UESP Morrowind Console Commands page.

I had to go digging through some ancient GameFAQs threads to discover a console command that exactly fixed the issue I was having with my savegame... this may be the only instance ever where UESP is not the superior resource.

(also I echo the below sentiment to play Morrowind with a Steam Controller, it's the true chad way of playing morrowind. Flexing on you kb/m hoes with my analog movement controls AND allaya fuckin hotkeys)
