How to obtain Imperium Crossbow

This Guide shows you how to get a Dragonthorn (Tier 7) Imperium Crossbow early game.

Requirements

- Stealing Skill

If your main character and companions don't have the skill yet, go to the Tavern and recruit Leliana, she will have Improved Stealing.

Location

- Lothering

You have to find this Merchant and make him stay after the argument with the Sister.

The Proccess

All you have to do is to use your Stealing Skill on the Merchant. If you were successful, you should receive the following item:


That's it, you got yourself a Tier 7 Crossbow. Hold onto it for later use or sell it for a good price. Up to you.

Be aware! If you kill the Merchant (during the dialouge) you won't be able to get the Crossbow (you can't loot him, since he'll have no corpse).

Tip: Using the Talent - Steath and standing behind your target can increase your chance for a successful steal. (Personal experience.)

I feel this might have in all likelihood be an oversight with the developers throwing in a tier 7 weapon this early. I imagine it was intended to be put somewhere else. Well it has some utility for strength melee fighters in the end game where you do have to use some ranged attacks or use the siege weaponry.
