Free to Play Starter Tips

Welcome to Allods Online, I have played off and on for a few years now and I was happy to see it on steam but sad there was no tips to help new players get a footing in the game. So here are my tips, I'm not great at the game and some of these may be out dated but they are the tips I think will make things a bit less difficult for you. You will need to spend some real money or some serious grinding at some point to get the most out of the game but it’s worth it for what is an old school MMO with a really cool setting. I’ll try to update this now and then with new things I learn

The Tips

• When you get through the first area and get to Novograd(League) or Yasker’s Tower(Empire) use the /zone channel and get in a leveling guild. A leveling guild has perks that can give you up to a extra 20% exp to quests and you want that. If you have time to look and find one with 20% do so but I suggest at the very minimum find a 12% one.
  
  
• Get a Mentor as soon as your able. This will allow you to do a quest every 10 levels that will get you a nice epic item as well as have someone to wisper for information on things. It will put you with someone of the same class as you so they can help you.
  
  
• At level 16 start doing the "Regular Customers" daily quests, this will give you a free 24 hour incense and 10 mount food. League get it from ‘Mysterious Family’ in the Gibberlings Quarter in Novograd and Empire get it from ‘Semer Nemar’ in Yasker’s Tower in Nezebgrad.
  
  
• For a Free non time limited decent mount I suggest when you get a silver anniversary coin and your at least level 20 go to the tropical Atoll and farm seashells off and on till you get 600. To get there at your capital look for a NCP with Traveler under their name wearing silly tropical gear, they sell a ticket for 1 silver anniversary coin, you use the ticket and it teleports you there. Then you can buy a 125% mount from "Jack Cheap". You can trade in spare anniversary coins for seashells, Silver = 1, Gold = 10, Platinum = 100 to speed it up.
  
  
• Cash shop (Boutique). You can buy cash shop currency for in game gold from a vendor by the Auction NPC’s in your faction’s capital. The exchange is rough but there is no restriction on what you can buy with the exchanged gems.
  
  
• Runes are the sticking point for most people. For end game stuff your going to want a full set of 5’s and the easiest and cheapest way to do that is to buy the Beginner’s Pack. You can find it in the cash shop under Services > Character. This will get you a set of 5’s and a bunch of other things. You won’t really need it till your max level and doing Allods with groups and by that point you should know if you like the game enough to spend some real money on it.
  
  
• Incarnations are great. At max level you can start a quest chain that will allow you to get a incarnation. This is an alt that keeps all the perks, runes, bags, ship, bonuses you have on your progenitor(main). The incarnation levels at a reduced power (-30%) but gets the bonuses from your runes which evens it out some. There is a lot to the incarnation system, much more than a tips guide I just wanted to put this in here so you knew that there is a system in place that allows you to make alts without the huge no rune penalty that just making a new character has.
  
  
• Mercenaries are your friends. At max level you can hire merc’s in an Allod to fill out a party or even do a full party and they can carry you in any sector 1 Allod with little to no micro management. Tep’s pyramid requires some micro on the first 2 bosses but past that they are amazing. They cost a gold amount to hire unless your willing to wait 10 min in the dungeon queue and if you don’t get a group a dialogue box will come up that will let you port into an instance and hire merc’s for free.

Talents, Rubies

• Don't get overwhelmed by the amount of options, look for a star and get those abilities and rubies. They are a great start and will give you a basic build to work with. Don't be afraid to mess up, you get free unlimited resets till level 15 then at max level you will get a one time full reset in the mail.
  
  
• You can also check out the games class forums http://allods.my.com/forum/index.php?page=Board&boardID=6 for builds but there is a lot of out dated info there.
  
  
• Bonus Rubies awarded for Finishing most world quests. Most end with a raid quest but if your in a guild there is a good chance you can get most of them done easily at 70.
  
  
• At Max level once you get the reset item coupon I suggest hitting up the forums for a build and using that. Till you got a build worked out don't use the coupon because the resulting item is time limited (30 days) where as the coupon is not. You can only reset once for free and after that you will need to pay either real money or grind out the gold for the purple currency.

Terminology

• Allod – Instanced Dungeon
  
• Astral – Flying on a player ship in the astral fighting demons, other players for loot and other stuff
  
• Taxi – Allods are gear score locked but you can skirt this lock by getting 2 people that are over that score to go in with you. You need 2 people per underscored person they carry so you would need 4 to get in 2 under geared people.
  
• S2 – Very Hard Dungeons, organized groups content. Even the low sector ones are super hard

Free to play tips for new players. Make a character on the free to play server, get some premium currency, pay for the subscription, play on the pay to play server. It's much better and not pay to win.

Thanks for making this guide! I logged on and was immediately turned off because I was lost. But now I'm back, I got a mentor (a really good one), and the game just lit up again.
