Foreword
Dementium II HD has several achievements and, while not the most difficult game in the world, the achievements can add a little bit of time to the gameplay. In this guide, it will tell you how to (specifically) get each achievement and the recommended way of getting them (from experience).
First Blood!
Description: Killed your first enemy!
Difficulty: Very Easy (obtained automatically by progressing the story)

How: As the description states, you just have to kill an enemy in order to get it. You're almost guaranteed to get this achievement, even though 49.8% of players (at the time of writing this) haven't gotten it. And that's the most-earned achievement, according to Steam.
Breaking & Entering
Description: Broke all the breakable doors.
Difficulty: Normal

How: This one's fairly easy to get if you try exploring everywhere on the map. All you have to do is break all of the doors with boards covering them, and there are only 8 in the game. The first 5 you can destroy as soon as you get the sledgehammer, and the other 3 are hard to miss (especially since the 6th at least is required to be broken for story progression). Basically, this achievement does require a bit of brain power to get but you should be able to get it by the end of Chapter 3. If not, you head back to the facility in Chapter 5 so you have the chance to get all of the doors you missed. Also just ignore the door with the weird growths when you're in the boiler room, you can't get into that room until you get the Flamethrower in Chapter 4.
Brain Biter
Description: Kill 15 non-boss enemies with the Sledgehammer.
Difficulty: Easy

How: You should be able to get this as you naturally progress through the game, since the Sledgehammer is much more useful than the Shank at defeating enemies. If you prefer using the Shank, however, you can combine this achievement with "Home Run" (how to obtain it being explained below).
Skull Crusher
Description: Kill any boss with the Sledgehammer.
Difficulty: Normal

How: You can get this achievement with any boss, but you don't get the Sledgehammer until after the first boss. It's recommended that (like other weapon-specific boss achievements) you obtain this achievement by save scumming the fight against the Gorgamesh in Chapter 3. You also only have to land the killing blow to get this achievement, so feel free to use any weapon you feel like before killing the boss.
Home Run
Description: Kill 10 flying enemies with the Sledgehammer.
Difficulty: Easy

How: This achievement is easier to get than Brain Biter, due to how you don't have to kill as many enemies. If you're going for this achievement it's recommended to wait until later in the game, as Chapters 4 and 5 have a lot of flying enemies scattered about that you can defeat quite easily.
Prison Break
Description: Complete Chapter 1 using only the Shank.
Difficulty: Normal

How: Even though this achievement sounds very hard to get, and has a Normal rank, it's actually easier in execution. The only enemies that appear in Chapter 1 are the Chestmaws, Guards, Hoppers (annying enemies that jump at you to attack you and can do massive damage in groups, but very few appear and they are actually easier to take out with the Shank than any other weapon on you at that point), and Whispers (enemies that can't be harmed, but only send you to an arena to take on a few Chestmaws). As long as you're careful enough to not get damaged too heavily and have enough healing items, this achievement shouldn't take too much effort to get.
Slasher
Description: Kill 50 non-boss enemies with the Shank.
Difficulty: Easy

How: You can get a majority of this achievement's kills out of the way by getting Prison Break, and (besides the Spitter) many of the enemies you come across in Chapter 2 can be easily defeated by the Shank. Chapter 2 introduces a lot of flying enemies, but many of the flying enemies usually stay around your eye level. As long as you use the Shank as your main melee weapon, you should be able to get this achievement before you even see the Gorgamesh for the first time during Chapter 3.
Bloody Murder
Description: Kill any boss with the shotgun.
Difficulty: Easy

How: Many of the weapon-specific boss achievements are fairly easy, due to how much more likely you are to use the guns in a fight than the Sledgehammer. There's actually two places to obtain this achievement, one of them being the boss fight in the second Chapter. Make sure you pick up the shotgun in one of the houses (unlike the Shank or the Revolver, it isn't mandatory to be picked up) and just fight the Wendigo Witch with the strategy I mention under "Witch Hunter." If you run out of ammunition before you defeat her, you can always just fight the Gorgamesh and kill it with the shotgun.
Blood & Guts
Description: Kill 20 non-boss enemies with the shotgun.
Difficulty: Easy

How: Ammunition for the shotgun is scarce throughout the game, but it's fairly easy to get this achievement. The shotgun becomes very deadly at close range, able to take out Spitters in one bullet and Chestmaws in a clip, so it's recommended that you attempt this achievement on enemies you can get close to without taking a lot of damage (or who die very quickly). Chapter 3 and 4 are good places to get this, since the aforementioned Spitters are very common in Chapter 3 and Chapter 4 has a lot of shotgun ammunition available.
Pinups
Description: Kill 12 non-boss enemies with the Nail gun.
Difficulty: Normal

How: Remember how I mentioned that you should ignore that door in the boiler room? Yeah, guess where the Nail gun is. Conidering it's not necessary (or even mentioned in-game) alone earns the achievements involving it a "Normal" rating at least, but the Nail gun is also a very weak weapon and there is barely any ammunition available for it. Paired with that it only appears in Chapter 5 makes it even harder to use, but thankfully there are many Banshees (enemies that can be killed in 4 shots with the Nail gun) and Chestmaws (enemies that can be weakened with the Shank or the Sledgehammer before killing it with the Nail gun) available throughout the chapter. However, you're going to want to save some ammunition for...
Nailed
Description: Kill a boss with the Nail gun.
Difficulty: Hard

How: As mentioned, this achievement can only be obtained during Chapter 5 (the last Chapter) and you have to land the killing blow on the last boss with this weapon. It's recommended to use the Shank, Sledgehammer, or Bonesaw in the section leading up to the fight, because there's only one ammunition pick-up for the Nail gun at the end of that section and it won't last the whole fight. Luckily, the Malatesta is a fairly easy fight as long as you have enough ammunition and healing items.
Death Miner
Description: Kill 5 non-boss enemies with Dynamite.
Difficulty: Easy/Normal

How: Dynamite is a very temperamental weapon to use, but luckily this achievement is fairly easy to get once you get the hang of using it. You can pick up Dynamite right after coming out of the mine cart mid-way through Chapter 4, and it's a very good weapon to use against Chestmaws during the hallucination after getting the battery from the ship. If you don't immediately kill any Chestmaws it's fine, you can pick up as much Dynamite as you can hold during the fight against the Colossus and there are plenty of chances to kill enemies during Chapter 5, but if you are going to try to use that Dynamite on Chestmaws it's recommended that you only throw it to individual targets. That way you can keep track of how many kills you have, and you aren't attacking them with just splash damage.
Firing Squad
Description: Kill a boss with the Machine gun.
Difficulty: Easy

How: While there are only two bosses you can use the Machine gun on, it's here where save scumming on the Gorgamesh is really helpful for getting achievements. It's recommended to get this achievement against the Gorgamesh since it only takes 2 clips to kill it, whereas Malatesta has more health than you probably have bullets, and in fact using the Machine gun on the Gorgamesh is the best way to get all of the weapon-specific boss achievements, just using the specific weapon for the final blow.
Mass Shooter
Description: Kill 20 non-boss enemies with the Machine gun.
Difficulty: Easy

How: The Machine gun is probably the best weapon to use against the enemies you come across, especially later in the game. If the Gorgamesh, the third boss in the game (and the last real "boss" before fighting Malatesta), dies in just two clips from it then you know how quickly it can damage enemies. It actualy deals less damage than the Revolver, but it has such a high firing rate that it's not even a factor. It also helps that the Gorgamesh appears twice during Chapter 4 as a normal enemy encounter, but it still takes 2 whole clips to kill it.
Napalm in the Morning
Description: Kill 10 non-boss enemies with the Flamethrower
Difficulty: Easy

How: This is probably one of the easiest weapon-specific achievements to get, due to how the Flamethrower works. While you can just spray it in long streams to mow down enemies, the Flamethrower works best in short bursts so that enemies can take damage from the fire. Pair that with that one of the enemies introduced late into Chapter 3 can only be killed by the Flamethrower, and they appear at their most after the player gets the Flamethrower, and you have about 3 easy kills before you even get into the next hallucination.

It's also worth mentioning that you can refill the Flamethrower by interacting with the yellow canister right next to where you pick the Flamethrower up, so while you have to backtrack a bit you always have a free refill.
Self Defence
Description: Kill a boss with the Revolver.
Difficulty: Easy

How: Yes, the achievement is misspelled. But this is the "If you didn't get Bloody Murder" achievement, in that if you didn't have enough ammunition to get Bloody Murder during the Wendigo Witch fight then you're probably going to get this one. If you didn't kill the Wendigo Witch with the Revolver, save scumming the fight against the Gorgamesh (as mentioned earlier) can help you get this achievement.
Postal Worker
Description: Kill 25 enemies with the Pistol.
Difficulty: Very Easy

How: tbh I have no idea why it's the Pistol in this achievement, and the Revolver in Self Defence. Anyways, this achievement is very easy to get. Those little leech things die in one shot from the Revolver and Spitters only take 4 shots, and with how much ammunition you get for the Revolver you're unlikely to run out while trying to get this. It's not recommended that you try to get this achievement off of Chestmaws or Hoppers, though, since Chestmaws take a lot of bullets before going down (unless you hit them in their heart) and Hoppers are very hard to hit with a gun. The flying enemies that look like weather balloons with chainsaws attached to the bottom also spawn those leech creatures, so if you're wiling to be patient you an get this achievement by the end of Chapter 2, and that's only if you attempted to get Prison Break on the same file.
Massacre
Description: Kill 10 non-boss enemies with the Bone saw.
Difficulty: Easy

How: Okay, first of all the Bone saw does not look like in the achievement. It's completely white and it's actually a circular saw. Secondly, the Bone saw appears during the very tail end of Chapter 5. It appears in one of the bathrooms in the church area, in one of the very last stalls, and it's probably the most useful close range weapon in the game. It's more like a gun than a close range weapon, in that it can overheat and it will overheat after defeating just one Chestmaw. However, there is a way to get around that. If you rapidly tap the firing button (the left mouse button by default) it won't overheat as fast, allowing you to deal way more damage against enemies without the danger of it overheating. If you remember that, and remember to save ammunition for the fight against Malatesta, then you should get this achievement very easily.
Demon Slayer (Gnaw guide)
Description: Kill the Gnaw.
Difficulty: Normal (obtained automatically by progressing the story)

Boss guide: For the fight against the Gnaw, you only have one weapon: the Shank. Due to your lack of a ranged weapon it's recommended to constantly stay moving, and when you're close enough to attack it head around behind it. The Gnaw's only weapons are its arms and its teeth, both of which are on its front side, so sticking around its backside is the best tactic for attacking it. When you deal enough damage to it the Gnaw starts crawling on the ceiling and spitting yellow goop, which takes priority over the boss since it contains eggs for those leech monsters I mentioned in Postal Worker. Since you don't have a gun they can attack you and it will take some time to get down to where you can hit them, allowing them to take out a good chunk of your health.

There's no real strategy to this boss besides "stay behind it at all times and attack as much as possible" since you only have one weapon. Just remember to watch out when it spawns leeches and make sure you have enough healing items to stay safe.
Witch Hunter (Wendigo Witch guide)
Description: Kill the Wendigo Witch
Difficulty: Normal (obtained automatically by progressing the story)

Boss guide: This boss is a challenge if you're going into it blind, but since you're reading my guide you should be fine. (damn it I didn't mean to rhyme) Anyways, you can find the Shotgun in one of the houses (I actually think it's one of the doors you have to break open for Breaking & Entering), but if you don't have the Shotgun you should still be fine. If you only have the pistol, dodge to the side and fire a couple of shots off at the Wendigo Witch as she's passsing by when she's charging and attack her when she's using her attack that summons 5 energy beams from the ground (it makes sense in context). If you have the Shotgun, you can feel free to stand directly in her path and fire a shot when she gets close, since the damage will actually cause the Witch to stop charging (which actually deals more damage than the strategy I suggested for using the pistol).

She also has one attack similar to what Bad Girl from No More Heroes does, but rather than instantly killing you she just does some damage and you can still attack her. If you don't know what the attack is, it's when the Wendigo Witch becomes a blonde woman in a black sweater (yeah, I didn't get that either) and collapses on the ground. Her attack of 5 energy beams is also easy to dodge, but it's actually more rewarding to use since it throws you a little bit away and ends that attack pattern, thus causing her to begin her "charging" phase again and allowing you to get in more damage faster.
Beast Master (Gorgamesh guide)
Description: Kill the Gorgamesh
Difficulty: Easy (obtained automatically by progressing the story)

Boss guide: If you couldn't tell from how much I talk about the Gorgamesh, the fight against it is easier compared to the first two bosses and it even becomes a miniboss later on. The Gorgamesh is slower than the player and also has fairly low health, so if you have enough ammunition you can take it on just fine. If you somehow run out of ammunition before it dies, or don't want to use your guns on it, then you should run away, wait for it to use its (heavily telegraphed *ba dum tsch*) only attack, and run in with either the Shank or the Sledgehammer.

As mentioned, the Gorgamesh appears later on in Chapter 4 (twice!) as a miniboss, but neither time it's mandatory for it to be killed. There's actually even a glitch with its appearances then where its attack is unable to hit the player if they're standing up against it, so if you can manage to somewhat lead the Gorgamesh you can pick up all of the items in the rooms it appears in and then exit without ever having to even damage it. It has several Chestmaws appearing during its second miniboss encounter, but (again) you don't have to defeat the Gorgamesh in order to progress then so I recommend just defeating the Chestmaws, grabbing the book that gives you access to the Flamethrower, and running out as fast as possible.

(that's actually how I got the thumbnail for this guide, I'm standing as close to the Gorgamesh as possible in that picture but it can't damage me)
Giant Killer (Colossus guide)
Description: Kill the Colossus.
Difficulty: Nearly impossible (obtained automatically by progressing the story)

Boss guide: Give up.

But in all seriousness, the Colossus is probably the biggest source of my anger (as well as my game overs). The boss fight is very simple on paper: run away from the Colossus, avoid the traps, and throw Dynamite whenever possible. However, while that seems simple, it's far more aggrivating in execution. The Colossus suffers from several really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ problems alone, but the course is just as horrible as the boss is. It's randomly generated, meaning that you can end up with any form of course, and there's a bug where the boss may get stuck in the floor or just completely fall out of the map (which happened several times when I was fighting it). Basically the only advice I can give you is: run from the boss whenever possible, stockpile on Dynamite, throw one or two sticks at the boss before you begin running again, and pray that the environment doesn't cause a Game Over (or make the fight unbeatable).

If you quit playing Dementium II HD for good after fighting the Colossus a few times, I completely understand and respect your choice. Hell, I felt like quitting several times myself due to the cheap difficulty and the game-breaking bugs.
Worm Crusher (Malatesta guide)
Description: Kill the Malatesta.
Difficulty: Normal/Hard (obtained automatically by progressing the story)

Boss guide: The fight against the Malatesta can be very hard or not any harder than the Wendigo Witch fight, depending on how you prepare for it. The boss's weak spots are the gemstone inside its mouth and on its rear end, and you have a fairly good chance of hitting them regardless of how close you got to your shot. It's recommended that you be sparing with your ammo during Chapter 5 since there aren't many places to stock up on ammo before the fight, and you will want to keep several healing items for the fight against it. The boss has five general attacks: spit rocks at you, jump up in the air and land on one of the circles, go through one of the twelve circles on the wall, and bodyslam you from the complete opposite end of the map. A general rule of thumb for evading the Malatesta is to stay away from the circles on the floor, as those are where it teleports into/out of the arena from when it's not charging through the walls, and many of its attacks are fairly easy to avoid. You can easily avoid when it spit rocks just by going up against a wall, and (as mentioned) the other two attacks rely on the player staying inside of the circles it teleports in/out from. However, the attack where it bodyslams you is cheap. Malatesta will randomly appear from one of the corners of the room, and you have 0.5 seconds to get to the other corner of the room before it bodyslams you for unavoidable damage. Oh, and when it's preparing to bodyslam the telegraphing is no different than when it spits rocks at you, so you might find yourself in the wrong position for what it's about to do.

As mentioned, it's recommended that you be sparing with your ammunition and healing item consumption. Close range weapons and Dynamite are unable to reach its gems, and the only infinite-power ranged weapon (the Ancient Relic) isn't the best weapon to use against it. There's no other real advice I can give you.

You can grind kill achievements with respawning enemies if you're missing them, I got all the achievements only a year or two ago.

Its been over 8 years since I last wrote this, much less played the game. I'm sure that some achievements have been broken or the information I gave is incorrect purely because of the passage of time and how the game has gotten steadily more and more unplayable.

Am I missing some achievements (for example, kill 25 creatures with a gun)?

BTW just you so you know, the windigo witch's transformation is your wife from the first game (Since its stated that you were apparently framed for your wife and daughters death, which judging by the windigo note, implys your wife actually survived somehow, BUT transformed into the windigo)
