How to beat The Rhino. (Also known as Big Momma)

Introduction

During my first fight with the Rhino, I had alot of trouble. The fight before this used up most of my ammo, so i had little to nothing to use. So for your sake, i will try to help.

What to expect

In this fight it is possible to use no ammo in order to kill the boss (Explosives needed). It was pretty easy to do once i figured out her weakness, which makes the fight easier than sexually identifying as an attack helicopter.

First Phase

During this first phase, notice the 6 pillars in the room , they are very important.
Your job is to stand behind the pillars and to not move until she runs into them. Make sure to wait a few seconds before you move, as she can still hit you with her run.

As she retreats to the new arena, you have acess to a bit of ammo. You may not need to use this but its a good idea to loot the corpse and take the ammo from the box next to it.
Now that you've done that, walk up to the second arena and get your explosives ready (Tab + Mouse). Use a claymore to start out. Directly infront of you the boss will charge. Before she does put down a claymore and run to the side. She will trigger the claymore, and she will take minimal effort to kill.
Pull out some molotovs or grenades and throw them at her. It will only take 2 more in order to kill her after. If you dont have molotovs or grenades you can use more claymores. Just make her charge, place a claymore and b8 out her charge like you did in Phase 1. Beware of her little gremlins because they can trigger them too.

while reading this to figure out how to kill him i just stumbled and humbled upon a crazy fact! If you stay near the boss you can glitch him out , which means you can easily kill him with knife it took me like 4-5 knife hits to kill him , also you can do this but you have to use maybe some ammo or expo , it will take less , but it is possible without any guns or expo

Stuck here on ranger hardcore. No ammo, barely any explosives, and so unpredictable and jank when trying to use my knife to kill it. I am so close to giving up on my playthrough at this point. I had been so good at conserving ammo all game and this fucking section in the catacombs with the nosalises and rhino has just really irritated me now. BTW, I have beaten this game multiple times, it is a personal favourite, but this section on this difficulty is actually just bad.

You don't even need to make it run into anything or use a lot of ammo or explosives. You can literally just shoot the eyes and make quick work of it with very little ammo. The game tells you this on one of the hint screens. Hope this also helps

Wow.. how am I seeing this now. I was literally just thinking about my run through the metro series earlier today.

I played through all the games on ranger hardcore. When i got to this boss I only had 4 pistol rounds 1 claymore and my knife. I remember killing it with my knife after it rammed me up against a wall, shoving it right behind its head plate into its neck and eyes.

It was so awesome. These games elevate themselves on max difficulty to a whole new gaming experience.

i dont have a claymore 2 nades 5 shotgun rounds 10 knives and a molo and 3 reloads with 2012 still couldnt kill it. any ideas or just restart?
