2) Getting started
Steps to get started

1) Install CheatEngine (yes, I guess you have to do that.)

2) Start CheatEngine & click on the "Open" Button

3) Select the previously downloaded *.ct File and hit open

4) Click on "Ok" on the appearing window

5) Start Everybody's Gone to the Rapture

6) Alt+Tab out of the game, go back to CheatEngine

7) Click on the Seach-Button

8) Select "Rapture_Release.exe" and hit open

9) If the "Keep the current adress list/code list?" question appears, hit yes.

10) Click on the "Activate" Control-Field and activate the functions you would like to activate

3) Using the cheat / modifying the speeds
How to use it?

1) Tab back into the game, load or start the game.

2) When you're able to move freely, press shift to walk three times faster (default setting)

3) If you activated noclip, press Alt + E to enable it and Alt + Q to disable it.

How to modify the cheat?

If you want to modify the speed without pressing any button, simply modify "Move Speed Mod" -> "x?" by double-clicking onto the value (1) - a window will appear and ask for a new value. (all other options can be modified the same way)

(I do not recommend to set it higher than 2.5)

4) Troubleshooting / Credits / A word to the devs
The only bug I did encounter:

I can't activate the cheat

Are you using the most recent version of CheatEngine? If not, please try updating first. If, I have no clue either :)

Credits

Obviously, I didn't do anything here. The full credits go to the development team of CheatEngine and the User Cielos on http://forum.cheatengine.org/ - thanks for your great work!

A word to the devs

I know why you did limit the movement speed like you did, but personally, I found the limitation way to hard. The movement speed indoors felt just wrong, and it was so freaking slow that I lost the motivation to play it until I found this cheat on the CheatEngine forum. At least let gamers choose what they want to and don't force your customers into something they don't like.

But one thing: Thank you Jessica Curry for the great soundtrack! It was a pleasure to listen to it!

Ah, you cannot grab just the content, to clipboard. I had to save it as xml and then rename the file as it was missing the outer xml style doctag in the clipboard.

For anyone reading this in 2022:

The speed is slow-er, in EBGTTR; however player speed is also determined by your FPS.

Use the 2020+ guide if you're a nVidia card user, and set your "Low Latency mode" to "ultra."

When holding down the run button, you will feel as if you're going TOO fast at times. I honestly only used the run button about 75% of the time due to this.

Cheers.

It worked. Thanks

Hi muguetao,

when your browser shows the XML structure, you should be able to right click in the content area and use "Save as" - however, if this won't work, you can also just copy the file's contents to a notepad and save it as a *.ct file.

Hi @maio290

I can't download the .CT file. When I click on the link you provided, I end up in a page that just shows the xml file with the following message:

"This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below."

I tried copying and pasting the url and also downloading the link with a right click, but nothing

It's the way CheatEngine works.
The software itself is around for a long time and well known: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cheat_Engine

Sounds legit.
Wish you to find what you're looking for, and furthermore a great time in this great game.

The low movement speed is, without any question, a measure to extend the time someone needs to finish the game. While I usually honour artistic freedom, it's messing with the gameplay too much in my opinion, as playing the game doesn't feel great due to that limitation. It's just too slow by any mean.

One could argue that this is exactly what a normal person would do (I guess if someone were to explore this scenery IRL, no one would run like a idiot) - but this however doesn't work well in a game. At least in my opinion.

If you're fine with the way the game is, this guide isn't for you. But for some people, including me, the low movement speed was infuriating.

There's perhaps a reason for the slow speed...
Maybe, i don't know, to prevent you from running through the game?
