Movement Guide
By Frenzy
The Ultimate Chicken Horse Movement guide shows you how to improve your platforming ability and introduces key skills to give you the edge over your rivals. This is an on-going project and will be updated further.
Update Log
• Updated the many ways to crouch through a 1 block space with the 'Crouch Guide' video.
• How to make the 4x4 girder jump + video preview.
Basic Movement
The speed, accuracy and fluidity of your movement is one of the most important aspects of Ultimate Chicken Horse. To improve on these you need to know your limitations and use that knowledge to out play your opponents.
Lets first take a look at jumping.

The maximum jump height from one platform to another is 5 blocks.
You can however bump your head against a block two spaces higher and use it to wall jump.
This gives us a 7 block high maximum reach.

Jump height can also be increased by using a spring platform.
The spring boosts jump height from 5 to 8 and wall jump height from 7 to 10.

If you are jumping a gap it is usually worth holding the run button at the same time. This allows you to cover a much bigger distance.
The maximum jump from one platform to another without wall jumping is 3 large grid squares (12 spaces)
You can also reach the same distance one block higher but it is slightly more difficuclt.
By combining the maximum distance and a wall jump it is possible to reach 3 large spaces wide and 3 small spaces high.

Often there are times you want to fit through a gap that is only one block high. The easiest and most common way to do this is by sliding on ice. Start by running towards the ice then as soon as you are on it hold down. You should slide easilly under. You can use this to get under spike balls, barbed wire and many more deadly traps. Be careful though, sometimes you will slow down mid slide and not make it as far as you expected.

Check out the video to see even more possibilities. Including a very sneaky pyramid only crouch move.

Advanced jump skills
2 Block Wall-Jump
A commonly encounted tricky move is the 2 block wall jump. It is fairly easy to jump up a wall with one block sticking out, but what about two?

To pull off the 2 block wall jump you need to hold run and the direction away from the wall as you jump. By holding jump your characters head will reach a point it is level with the protruding ledge. At this point you want to move back towards the wall for the second wall jump.

The same jump can be practised in the tree house when waiting for a game.

When combined with barbed wire, spike balls, sawblades etc.. the 2 block wall jump is a very good placement against newer players. It is also possible to have a double stack where you need to perform the same move twice in succession without stopping.

4x4 Jump
Another common jump to make is from under the 4x4 steel girder. Many players don't usually try this jump and you can use it to make yourself a 'backdoor' route that you know can be used but other players may be unaware of.

You can make the jump standing on a single block under the vertical beam.
Watch the video to see it done.

Black Hole Jumps

Black holes can be used to increase both jump distance and jump height. By aiming the pinacle of your jump arc towards the bottom of the black hole you can be sucked up and spat out several blocks higher.

2 Examples of black hole jumping. The first to increase distance and then to increase height.

You can fit your character through a two block gap above a table saw. With the right timing and holding run you should safely make it past.
Trap Safety
Although designed to kill you, sometimes these dangerous items can give you a breif respite. You can often stand, crouch and use weapons to wall jump from. Even a crossbow firing upwards can be used as a platform very breifly.

Places to stand safely

Arrows may be deadly, but you are faster.

You can jump infront of an arrow and easilly out run it. Combine this with ice sliding through a one block gap or dodging spinning blades and you have quite the gauntlet. There is even enough time to crouch under a table saw blade before resuming your getaway.

Difficult, but not impossible!

Not only can you out run an arrow. You can also out jump them.
By repeatedly bouncing off the walls you can reach the top much faster than an arrow.

i just found a new bug how that allows you to get through one block gaps the only thing you need is a crossbow schooting sideways at the block you want to crouch under thats at least one block away. the you just crouch in front of teh block you wnad to crouch under from the side the arrows come and hold the direction in taht the gap is

there is actually one more way to crouch under a one block gap:because there is a bug in this game taht gives both saw blade items 2 hitboxes (probably only) when you crouch. the normal one that kills you and the second one thats a little bit bigger than the normal one. this second hitbox only pushes you and so you can make the sawblade push you inside a one block gap skip to 12:25 of this video and watch the charmeleon to see some footage of this glich (which also works with the rotating saw blade) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5tAB44mV6E

Interesting effect I found, you can get under those saw-mill traps if there's a single block below them, if the saw comes down, and you are crouched up against it.
It can kill you, but for me it let me slide under it.

This happen to anyone else?

Good guide. Unfortunately it's missing the quick-jump, one of the most important advanced techniques.
