Nexus
  • Orbits a trinary star system, that is to say, it has three stars in the sky during the day time.

  • Has two moons, Halon and Pyra. Halon is where Farside is located. A chunk of it was blown off by a crashing Megadroid and turned into the Halon Ring. Pyra is the farther moon that for some reason resembles a gas giant despite being the size of a normal moon. It is unexplored.

  • The Eldan created insects that grow precious metals on their backs such as galactium, xenocite, etc.

  • Has six Primal Element Foci. The three that have been discovered are the Focus of Air in Galeras, the Focus of Water deep in the waters of Whitevale, and the Focus of Life in Wilderrun at the Everpool. The Focus of Logic, Earth, and Fire are still undiscovered.

  • Each Focus is guarded by a Primeval of that element, originally an Eldan. Four Primevals have been discovered (Although not the fourth's Focus).

  • Osiric is the Primeval of Air who leads the Falkrin, who worship him as a god. He declared war on the "groundwalkers" for attacking his temple.

  • Hydris is the Primeval of Water and revered by the Pell in Whitevale as a godess. While apparently a benevolent god, she is known to have terrible fury. She was originally the Eldan named Yuria, chosen to become Hydris due to her paranoia and the possibility that she was schizophrenic, as primal water is a volatile and dangerous substance.

  • Vitara is the Primeval of Life and is served by the Torine Sisterhood in Wilderrun and Celestion. She was once the Eldan named Nuriam. She is said to be incredibly beautiful, but incredibly strong, healing wounds inflicted upon her nearly instantly.

  • Nexus has four known continents: Alizar, the "eastern" continent, named after Dorian Walker's family patriarch and is where the Exiles have made their home in the Osun ruins of Thayd. Olyssia is the "western" continent, named after the wife of Dominus, and where the Dominion constructed Illium. Isigrol is the Cassian word for hell and is the "center" continent, where the Strain is spreading. Arcterra is a newly discovered area, where the strongest Osun resided to protect the secrets of the Archon.
NEXUS SPOILERS BELOW THIS POINT UNTIL THE NEXT SECTION

  • Nexus was constructed by the Eldan as a planet for their experiments, it is not their homeworld. The inside of the planet is filled with the remains of their laboratories.

Eldan, Drusera, and the Entity
  • The Eldan were apparently masters of the galaxy before they disappeared, focused on scientific advancement and achieving godhood through science.

  • They used Nexus as a testing ground for all their projects towards that goal, creating the Primevals, Drusera (Genesis Prime), and the Entity.

  • The Eldan, while secular, were still influenced by their old religion, and apparently had shrines in the likeness of their gods made for aesthetic purposes. The Primevals were also named after their old gods.

  • They had six orders (Led by the Archon) with different functions on Nexus:

  • The Order of the Makers worked to make new technologies to advance the Nexus Project and created the process for Augmentation, made the constructs that defend the Eldan's laboratories, and many other impressive technological wonders such as the Datascape. Vorion, a member, oversaw the process of creating the Genesis Prime after refusing to be one of the six Eldan used to create her. It is thought he was becoming insane near the final stages of the project. Zarkonis, another member, created the weapons and defense systems of Nexus, as well as a more powerful form of augmentation called Recombination which created the Ascendancy. He had a severe inferiority complex. He was one of the six Eldan chosen to become the Genesis Prime.

  • The Order of the Progenitors worked to create new life on Nexus, including the Pell, Falkrin, Osun, Squirg, Moodies, Skeech, and the Dreg. Nazrek, a Progenitor, was the most sociopathic and insane of the known Eldan on Nexus, creating the most dangerous things imaginable to revel in their destruction. He created the Stemdraggons, Squirg, and Moodies. He was chosen to be one of the six Eldan to become the Genesis Prime, but with an unknown ally tampered with the machine in an attempt to make his conscious the dominant one. Ohmna was another member of the Progenitors, created the Osun, the Falkrin, and the Skeech, treating them as her children. She was very compassionate, but her differences with Nazrek caused them to fight constantly.

  • The Order of the Weavers worked on technology and ways to harness and use the primal elements. Aviel, one of their members, taught the Eldan created races how to use the primal elements. She believed that females were superior to males and was one of the six Eldan chosen to become the Genesis Prime.

  • The Order of the Evokers worked alongside the Weavers and were responsible for the creation of the Elementals around Nexus. Yuria was one of their members and became Hydris, the Primeval fo Water. Bathior, another member, believed his order was the best and was one of the six Eldan chosen to become the Genesis Prime.

  • The Order of the Shapers worked to terraform Nexus, making the land suitable for the Eldan's experiments. They created the terraformers. They seemed to be constantly disagree with the rest of the Eldan scientists, as none of them were chosen to become part of the Genesis Prime. Koral noted that he did not believe the Progenitors when they told him the Strain was not a big deal and was relieved when he was told that none of his order would be part of the Genesis Prime.

  • The Order of the Watchers distributed what was required to the other orders and made sure that the rules were followed. Ionis was a member who had great foresight, despite initial worries, he decided to accept the offer to become one of the six Eldan to become the Genesis Prime in hopes of giving stability to the outcome.

  • Jariel the Archon led them all, overseeing every experiment on Nexus. Everything that was done had to be approved by him. He chose himself to be one of the six Eldan to be the Genesis Prime. Apparently he received the plans for the machine to make the Genesis Prime from another, more intelligent being. He kept this secret from the rest of the Eldan.

  • Drusera is the Genesis Prime and has the powers of a god, able to create something from nothing using the primal elements. She even created her own private dimension. She is very caring and worries constantly for others. Despite her good intentions, she harbors a dark secret.

  • The Entity was also created as a result of the Nexus Project. While not as powerful as Drusera, he seeks to weaken her to the point where he absorbs her power. He commands the Strain, which he sees as the perfected form of life. If not stopped, he plans to infect the entire universe with the Strain. Drusera has trapped his physical form in the Lightspire, although he constantly attempts to escape.

SPOILERS BELOW UNTIL NEXT SECTION

  • All the Eldan left on Nexus after the creation of Drusera were turned into Strain monsters by the Entity.

  • Drusera and the Entity inhabit the same form, but are different personalities. At first it was simply a sudden shift in personality, but then became a physical transformation. Drusera is made up of the positive personalities of the Eldan used to create her, the Entity is made up of the negative, making the Entity's will to control extremely powerful. The Entity was likely brought into existence due to Nazrek's sabotage.

  • Drusera's physical body is held in stasis in the Lightspire to contain the Entity.
The Strain
  • Controlled and led by the Entity.

  • Able to infect any biological being (including Mechari) using the Strain, anything, robotic, or machine with the Technophage. The Technophage, however, can be erased.

  • If infected by the Strain, one can be saved by removing the infected area. However if they are not saved, the corruption will spread at varying rates, slowly taking over their mind and giving them an urge to infect others. It also gives them a terrifying appearance with extra eyes and mouths where they usually don't go, as well as hard, bone-like projections. Sometimes of actual bones.

  • Those corrupted by the Strain can still speak, but mind control from the Entity doesn't mean they can talk about the weather. The Entity can also speak through beings he's corrupted, specifically people, Strain mites, and beings created from the primal pattern of the hero.

  • Fire works to remove the Strain from infected surfaces, but of course leaves the land scorched.

  • Exanite is able to keep the Strain at bay, but if given enough time to strengthen itself, the Strain can infect it.

Dreg, Pell, Falkrin, and Osun
Dreg
  • One of the earlier Eldan experiments at creating the ultimate lifeform, made up of several different Eldan created humanoids.

  • Nomad scavengers and raiders found in desert or badland areas, the technology and scrap they gather are used mostly for weapons and vehicles. Think Mad Max.

  • Have terrible mutations due to millenia of inbreeding.

  • No known way to distinguish a male or female Dreg, despite them having a Human appearance.

  • Are somehow able to tame and mutate Gorganoths.

Pell
  • Created by the Eldan to assist them in their projects on Nexus, they once followed the Eldan aesthetic, having a tall and regal appearance.

  • Slowly began to revere the Eldan almost as gods, but fully as gods once they vanished. They refer to them as "The Masters".

  • Have seperated into tribes after the Eldan disappeared. Each tribe has a focus on a certain primal element. Their proximity to the element has caused the majority of them to shrivel and mutate according to their preferred element. They are led by High Priests, Pell that retained most of their original appearance.

  • Fire Pell have thicker skin, like Draken. Water Pell have gills that allow them to stay underwater longer than most land creatures. Earth Pell can smell precious metals through other stones and the very ground. Air Pell have the beginnings of actual feathers. Logic Pell are highly intelligent. Life Pell live extremely long lives.

  • The Pell that have been encountered are Water Pell in Whitevale and Ellevar, Fire Pell in a Farside Biodome and Malgrave, Air Pell in Galeras, Life Pell in Wilderrun, and a Pell tribe in Blighthaven that seemingly has no affiliation to any element. The Water Pell are friendly and docile, although the ones in Ellevar were killed by the Dominion after a Dominion soldier sabotaged the Pell for his own nefarious ends. The Fire Pell are hostile. The Air Pell kidnapped scientists to sacrifice them so they could create Stormtalon, a prototype Primal. The Life Pell are allied with the Torine Sisterhood and have since began to assist the factions against the Strain. The Blighthaven Pell constantly work to keep the land free of Strain.

Falrkin
  • Aggressive warrior bird people that live wherever there are great mountains and primal air such as in Malgrave and Galeras. Eldan life experiment involving infusing a species with trace amounts of primal air.

  • Worship Osiric, the Primeval of Air. They have a faction among them known as the Brides of Osiric, comprised entirely of female Falkrin, who are seen literally as messengers from their god.

  • Live in tribes called Broods and reside in communties called Perches. These groups are led by a Broodlord, the strongest of the male Falkrin among them.

  • Are related to nearly flightless, brutish, strong bird-like creatures known as Murgh. They serve Falkrin as workers and muscle and are usually completely content to do so.

  • Falrkin see every other species as inferior. Constantly refer to anyone that can't fly naturally as a "Groundwalker".

Osun
Extremely aggressive, resilient, gigantic beings created by the Eldan. They focus on martial prowess and forging melee weapons.

Have three castes: Warriors, Forgemasters, and Witches.

Reside in forts with impenetrable walls, although it is implied the Eldan knew how to damage them.

Subjugate other species with a substance known as soulrot, which steals the will of those who breathe it and bend them to the will of the Osun.

Osun brought to Arcterra were there to guard the Vault of the Archon, where they subjugated some Pell to construct certain structures for them, although this implies they were not the ones to build their own forts.

Marauders
  • The Marauders are a faction of SPACE PIRATES that live to do illegal things in the name of money. They are mostly made up of three species: the Oghra, who are green, lanky, tech-savvy sharpshooters. The Grund are large, brutish, shaved bear-like beings that are usually employed as enforcers for the Marauders. The Eeklu are Chua-like in their cunning and intelligence, but pirates! They also resemble Chua in appearance, but with shorter tails and ears and facial hair that is much more furry. All are the remnants of exiles from their own worlds.

  • They engage in activities such as plundering and poaching.

  • They have their own magazine that has everything from advice to raunchy stories.
Made by a cool dude. (Aka: Steef)
Darkspur Cartel
  • A plague on the whole galaxy, the Darkspur Cartel is surprisingly well organized and very powerful.

  • The majority of their groups are led by the Krogg, a race of giant, beefy reptiles with great cunning and physical strength. Beneath them are thugs and criminals they hire from any faction or species to help them with their illegal activities.

  • They produce a drink called Slush, which is highly addictive and very deadly that is banned in most communities from both the Exiles and the Dominion.

  • They engage in the slave trade as well, using some of the people they gather to assist their industries.

  • They have a passion for fashion and apparently engage in gang wars over the latest outfits.

The Ascendancy (and other Augmented)
  • The Ascendancy is lead by Calidor Antevian, Toric Antevian's brother.

  • They use the process of Recombination, the removal of organic limbs and body parts and replaing them with machines, to augment converts or those they've kidnapped.

  • They are based in Whitevale.

  • They are branded as heretics by the Vigilant Church.

  • They are convinced that through augmentation, they will ascend to the power of the Eldan.

  • Normal Augmentation causes increased aggressive behavior and a drive to protect Eldan labs.

  • Everyone and everything from Humans, to Mechari, to even Elementals can be Augmented.

  • Those Augmented cannot be saved from their fate, except through death, although some Augmentor constructs are able to reanimate the bones of the dead.

  • The nanomachines enhance the natural abilities of the Augmented, but control them.
Made by a cool dude. (Aka: Steef)
Torine Sisterhood
  • Lead by Tresayne Toria, based in Wilderrun, loyal to Vitara, the Primeval of Life.

  • Initially fought against the Dominion and Exiles as invaders, but now work alongside them to fight the Strain.

  • Are made up entirely of the Cassians that came with Tresayne Toria when she was taken by the Mechari.

  • They are all immortal thanks to Vitara and the Everpool.

  • All the combatants are female, but there are males among them. The males are kept hidden, however.

  • They are larger and stronger than the average Cassian, with entirely red eyes.

  • They tame pumeras for use in battle.

  • They respect the strong.
Made by a cool dude. (Aka: Steef)
Protostar
  • Lead by Phineas T. Rotostar. A very crafty businessman who has built an industrial empire.

  • Turned his entire species into himself using a special drink. They are completely loyal to him.

  • The purpose of every clone of himself is to work to make money specifically for Phineas.

  • Some clones are born defective and achieve free will, although they are usually hunted down by Protostar to be corrected through programming.

  • Despite their apparent ineptitude, Protostar manages to create functioning goods that they sell to pretty much everyone who will buy from them...although the product may not function as intended. It is a common occurence for clones to die in the process of making the good, however.

  • Created the skyplots. Technically the land your skyplot is on is owned by Protostar.
Freebots
  • Freebots are robots that have acquired free will. (Excluding Mechari).

  • Lead by a robot named Al, a former Protostar automaton.

  • Dislike and avoid conflict, as they see it as inefficient and they hate deactivation.

  • Are remarkably friendly and positive to everyone they meet, even organic beings.

  • "Freebotism" as called by Protostar, is caused by the very energies of planet Nexus. Although the Freebot Code can be used to instantly free an automaton from its programming.

  • Can be mind controlled by the remnants of Megadroids if they are not careful.
Made by a cool dude. (Steef)
Lopp
  • Come from the planet Lagos, where most things are pretty cutesy and the gravity is high. Including the Snarfelynx

  • The males usually grow facial hair. Which is usually how you would identify a male Lopp.

  • Shockingly durable, able to take down foes much larger than themselves using only a spear. They are also able to survive eating only deep-fried food. With no bad results.

  • They love to collect "shinies", usually treasures, but can be anything the Lopp places value in.

  • They use Kurg as pack beasts. Despite their size and appearance, they can run alarmingly fast, and are even used for battle.

  • Villiages are lead by Chieftans.

  • Lopp go through a rite of passage called a Shinequest to prove they can be a valuable member of their village.

  • When Lopp die, their possessions are spread among the living Lopp.
Made by a cool dude. (Steef)
Ikthians
  • Follow the rule of majority. Those who think for themselves are hunted down and killed quickly and easily.

  • Believe that they are the superior species of the galaxy. Loss and failure is blamed on faults in their calculations or unforseen factors, but never directly saying that their opponents were simply better. Those who didn't account for these factors or faults are quickly killed by the Ikthian collective.

  • Are masters of using primal water, which basically powers all of their technology.

  • Some Ikthians volunteer to have their brains put into their robots such as the smalls scuttlers or large warbots.

  • Ikthians have discovered a way to use primal water to change their very anatomy and physiology. They use this process to make the very large, very strong Ikthians seen guarding their bases and ships.

  • Are probably as strong as the Dominion or Exiles, although they seem to avoid direct conflict and favor studying things.
Made by a cool dude. (Steef)
Ekose (And Grumpels)
Ekose

  • The Ekose home planet is located on the fringe of the known galaxy and is called Eko. Most of it is undeveloped except for their capital city, Kolvos, which is filled with business and activities. There are hundreds of spacedocks in orbit that work on visiting ships.

  • For now, only older Ekose are found on Nexus, as they have risen to positions of trade representatives or bureaucrats, giving them the freedom to travel where they wish and have their own business. Younger Ekose stay on their homeworld to work and rise up in rank. (The younger females do actually stand upright like their males.)

  • Few Ekose become pirates, as they are generally nice and prefer to stay on the defensive.

  • To Ekose, ships are their homes. Because of this, the term "Shipwrecks!" is used as an expletive to them, since it can leave an Ekose broke and homeless. In dangerous space.

  • The Ekose do have a religion, a pantheon of deities/spirits. They are called for help when undertaking important ventures and are usually given money, luxuries, or rocket fuel as sacrifices. The most prominent Ekose diety is the Great Navigator. It is believed that he plots the course for each Ekose's life. Those who stray from his path are believed to be at a huge risk of being lost and ruining business.

Grumpels

  • Grumpels are aquatic mammals from the planet Sirenia. The planet is covered in calm seas.

  • They have a heightened sense of empathy from communicating, leading to them being consistently happy.

  • Their entire culture revolves around gossips and rumors, with the more outlandish the story, the more pleasure they derive from sharing and hearing it.

  • Grumpels are extremely friendly and are generous to everyone they encounter.
