Go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows Features On or Off.

Find "Legacy Components" in the list, and put a check box in "DirectPlay".

Right click on the game and select "Properties", go to the last tab labelled "BETAS" in the drop down menu under "Select the beta version you would like to opt into" select "v1_10_old - 2014 version" for lan games

I have DirectPlay installed but I don't see any options for creating or joining a LAN server.
