Achievements

A guide to help you get all the achievements and perfect the game to finally reign over Skulldom.

Story related

You just need to play the game to get these achievements. Make sure you play in normal difficulty and not casual which is slightly easier.

Out of Line

You get it after you complete the first 4 levels on the Shores of the Dead.

Victor of Victorious...Victory

You get it after you complete levels 5 to 8 in the Land of Eternal Blossom.

Gum-Splattered Lock-Plucker

You get it after you complete levels 9 to 12 in the Land of Monsoon Meadows.

Sound of One Hand Applauding

You get it after you complete levels 13 to 16 in the Land of Golden Harvest.

A Shogun Is You!

You get it after you complete levels 17 to 20 in the Land of Frozen Fortunes.

Make Lava, Not War

You get it after you complete levels 21 to 24 on the Forbidden Islands.

In-game actions

Devil Inside

You will need to upgrade your general to the demon status having him eat 3 skulls. This should happen at some point through the game.

Were you using that?

From the level 5 onwards you will find monk shrines. Haunt one of them after your enemy spawned a monk to get the achievement.

Outfoxing Death

The Fox monk ultimate spell allows you to revive a unit. Just upgrade your Fox monk to demon eating 3 skulls and use the spell on a skull of one of your unit that just died. You will need 100 rice. Look at the video if you have any doubt.

Lightning Storm

You need to use the ultimate of the salamander monk on 5 foes. The level 12 "Forsaken Flights" is a good opportunity to do it. Have a look at the video.

Gone with the Wind

Most of the levels in the Frozen lands are good to do this achievement. I prefer to do on the Glassy Glacier level. You can have a look at the video hereunder:

Undead Brodeo

As explained at the beginning of the Forbidden Islands, you keep the units from one level to the next for the last 4 levels. Just play safe and make sure you keep as many units as possible till the last level. Don't hesitate to spawn new units if you have rice left and eat all the skulls remaining on the floor at the end of each level.

Dead Ringer

The tanuki monk is only available on the Forbidden Islands in single player. You can get the achievement in the level 23 where you need to defeat a general. Once the enemy general is awaken and starts to attack you, lower his HP to 1 and cast the taunt spell on him. You can see how I did it on this video. Another way to do it would in multiplayer.

Mastering the game

The Bone Collector

Earn 15 gold skulls by completing the challenges on each level. There are 3 per level. You can press the right button to display them during a game. They change color if you can possibly earn them at the end of the level.

Kingdom of the Golden Skull

The same as the previous achievement with 30 skulls.

Out of Your Skull

The same as the previous achievement with 60 skulls.

Skullpocalypsegeddon

Get all the gold skulls in the game. There are some tricky ones but nothing really impossible. Just take your time.

Speed of the Shogun

This is a bit more challenging. Your total time is displayed when in you are in the level selection screen. It has to be under 4 hours. To give you an idea here are my times on each level.

Multiplayer

You don't need to have 4 friends who play Skulls of the Shogun to get all these achievements. You can do it with 2 people. You just need to create several teams which can be controlled by the same player. Then you can actually do Web master, Online Multi-Slayer, Team Player and Epic Win in the same game.

Kurokawa Would Be Proud

Play a deathmatch in multiplayer and propose an alliance to a player. Then attack your ally.

Web Master

Play online and win.

Online Multi-Slayer

Win a 4 player multiplayer. You can do it with 2 people if you create 4 teams.

Team Player

Create a team deathmatch and make sure that your teammate is still alive at the end.

Speed Kills

Just set the time limit to 20 second and win a multiplayer game.

Epic Win

The best here is to get a friend who wants to do it with you. On any multiplayer map you should find shrines. Make sure that you spawn monks as often as possible and kill them just after. This way you will add up many kills until you reach Turn 30.

Emblem grinding

These are the most annoying achievements in this game. You need to play a lot to collect enough emblems. In order to do it faster, do not forge or fuse emblems before you get 100. Then try to have 8 of the same emblem to upgrade one to gold. And finally start fusing all the emblems you have in order to get a very rare emblem. Hopefully you will be luckier than I was. I had to play too many times before I got the achievements.

Tricks to farm emblems

If you have already earned all the other achievements, you might want to get emblems as fast as possible. There are two tricks you can use for that. First play a very short level like Glorious Gates (level 4) or Chaos Canyon (level 15) The problem with the first one is that you don't always get an emblem just for playing it. That is why I prefer Chaos Canyon.
The second trick is the "First Win Today" emblem. Since you get an emblem just for completing a level every 24 hours, you can just change the date of your computer every time you start a new level. Then you will get 2 emblems per level just as shown on this picture:

Playing Chaos Canyon is pretty straight forward. Commit to the lower path as shown in this video:

Executive Order 6102

The achievement will unlock when you finish a level and you already have 100 emblems. It will not unlock with the 100th emblem you earn. Make sure you play once more to get it.

A Sparkly of my Very Own

Play until you get 8 times the same emblem. Then you will be able to upgrade it to gold. Equip the emblem if the achievement does not pop out straight away.

4 str 4 stam leather belt!?

Don't start fusing before you get the other emblem related achievements. I don't know what are the odds to get a very rare emblem but I needed to fuse a lot of emblems before getting one. Just keep trying until you get lucky.

There's even a faster way to grind emblems: just make a save 2 turns before ending Chaos Canyon and you'll be guaranteed an emblem. Coupled with date/time changing, this makes the grinding pretty fast (2 emblems every 1/2 minutes depending on how you set up your save).
