Campaign Chronology
By Ragnaman
- Guide is a reference sheet for campaign chronology;
- While you can play the campaign in any order you want, community has noticed that there is a specific chronology that helps to streamline the story experience and reduce plotholes.

Information gathered from various sources (credited at the end), feel free to comment if you have solid information about better chronological order, I for one am no expert on the story.

I have the feeling that this order no longer actual since after all the dlc releases there new episodes:
Pirates of the Savage Sea
Danse Macabre
Dungeon Campaing
and also
Necropolis 2 campaing (which includes 4 episodes itself.)

Sites suggested above contains discussions at most until 2012, but final dlc was released May of 2 of 2013.

I am not wrong, after 12 years after release, there is still place for reordering and rethink the whole saga. :)

Cheers, Ubisoft kinda created an entirely new universe, Ashan has no connection with Enroth asides from some multiverse trickery as far as some famous char names go, so you dont have to worry about any plot connections with previous titles.

ah ok, thank you for all the info! I did play 2 and 4 back when I was.... too little to care, so I might not recall as much, and I have them on disk, which is useless after 2020 LOL #bringbackcddrives I do recall 5's story existing more or less, and I remember one campaign of 4, but that was all.
I don't know how I got so many hours in the game and its campaigns while not retaining much of the story or what was unlocked already for this game, so I am very excited to start over with this list. Thanks again!

And all campaigns were unlocked from the start, you could play only inferno from start to finish, that was very annoying once you realise that then you play through other campaigns and realise that you've been spoilered and why it felt like there are plot holes.

NewWorldComputing HoMM games did have strong stories, that merged together with Might&Magic games, if you play them in sequence its an insanely long saga.

Thanks for this! With whatever update ubisoft did a few months ago, I think it wound up unlocking ALL the campaigns, and I certainly do not recall having finished all of them, only maybe the necromancer one. So having this is definitely going to be a much easier/funner time to go along and replay everything. Because I seriously remember almost nothing of the story (story's never been much of a thing anyways for homm series but i digress)

I honestly dont know. Epilogues slightly differ based on how you build your heroes (blood/tears), but it has very minor impact, and partially why many were salty about the story. Promises were not delivered.

Which Epilouge Ending is Cannon though?
