Step 1
(Optional: backup your entire med2 installation, just in case when something goes wrong).

To install this mod you need to have Medieval 2: TW installed + Kingdoms expansion pack installed as well.

Open http://www.moddb.com/mods/de-bello-mundi , and download both parts of installer along with two patches. In my case, I created directory on my desktop to make it easier to find.

Step 2
Now, find your Medieval 2 main folder. In my case its: Z:\STEAM\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\.

Next, go to /mods directory there and create new folder called DBM.

Step 3
Run installer part 1 as administrator, select your mods/DBM directory as target (e.g. Z:\STEAM\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods\DBM) and wait untill installer finish. Repeat same for part 2 of installer.

Step 4
Congratulations! You have your mod now. But before starting game, you need to patch it.

Extract downloaded patches (use 7-zip, peazip, whatever).

Now, make sure you are patching to 1.1 first, otherwise mod will crash.

So, open DBM_Patch_v1.1, copy whole entire DBM folder there and copy/paste to Z:\STEAM\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods.

Replace files option of course.

Repeat exactly same process with patch 1.2

Done. Now last thing to do: create a shortcut for medieval 2 exe, copy/paste it on desktop, and
Add this line in "Target": --features.mod=mods/DBM (make sure there is one space after ").

(Optional: change icon to make it looks more beautiful.)

Done. Now you can enjoy your fresh installation of De Bello Mundi 1.0 mod.

If you've done everything correctly, double clicking on the shortcut will launch the mod.

I have no clue since I never used them. Make sure to have a backup before trying something new.

do cheats make a game less stable?
Cyrus The Great  [author] Jan 12, 2019 @ 11:02am
Nope, I wasn't using neither cheats or mods.

cyrus, do you play the mod without crashes?
Cyrus The Great  [author] Jan 10, 2019 @ 1:44am
The reason for that is because you are using a Steam-created shortcut, which has url structure.
In order to follow my guide you have to find your main medieval 2 folder and create shortcut from medieval2.exe and then proceed further as advised. I'd recommend deleting steam shortcuts as you don't need them - you can launch game from Steam itself.
