Installation Guide for Terraria Worlds

This guide was made originally made for people who don't know how to install "All items map (Все вещи в одной карте)", but it works for any map really! But what if you don't know how to put the world into your game?

That's where this guide comes in!

ENGLISH

1 - Downloading the Map

This step is fairly simple, although the download links for the maps may vary, it it usually easy to find them, as they are commonly at the top or bottom of the page. Always make sure that the website you're downloading the map from is a safe and trusted service.

2 - Finding the Downloaded Map

For this step, I will provide the default download locations for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

'_____' = Username

Windows*: This PC>Downloads
Mac OS X: Finder>_____>Downloads
Linux**: root>Downloads

If you can't find it there, then check the browser you used and see if you changed the download directory. Once you have found the folder (usually a .zip), open it, then drag the .wld file to the desktop for easier access in the future.

** - Not guaranteed to be correct.

3 - Finding the Worlds Folder

For this step, I cannot provide the location for Mac OS X or Linux, due to my lack of experience with those operating systems.

The worlds file is not located within the steamapps folder. To find it, use this directory.

This PC > Documents > My Games > Terraria > Worlds

Now drag the .wld file (Not the .zip folder) from your Desktop (or wherever you put it) and drop it into this folder! Don't worry about .bak folders, these are generated when you open your world through the game.

EDIT: The Mac OS X world file is located in ~/Library/Application Support/Terraria/Worlds

4 - Testing

Now that you're done with the installation process, it's time to do a test drive, and see if your world works! This process is the easiest to do, but a pain to fix if it doesn't work. Simply run Terraria and see if the world you downloaded is there.

If it is, then congratulations!

If it isn't, then retrace your steps to see what you did wrong.

Right click the file and go to Properties, what does it say for "Type of file"? ( This [puu.sh] is what it looks like)

Can't do it. I download the file of Curse and place ti in my worlds folder still doesn't work. Maybe I could get some help. Also the icon for the file shows the Internet Explorer logo.
