Culpa Innata Uncut Patch
By gordonfreeman01
This patch turns the censored Steam or cut old GamersGate DRM-Free version of Culpa Innata to the full uncut version. GamersGate now sells only the Steam key so the references to a separate GamersGate version in this guide are to the old cut DRM-Free version.

Introduction
This patch transforms the censored Steam/old cut DRM-Free GamersGate version (now GamersGate sells only the Steam key) of Culpa Innata into the uncensored Culpa Innata Uncut version from the now defunct Adventure Shop digital store which also came with some bonuses and added features and game content. It being now impossible to buy an uncut version of the game this patch was made to give players the option to play the game as it was originally conceived if they so wish when applying it to the currently only legal digital purchase option for the game (the Steam version).

As proof this version was actually released prior to the Steam version see:
http://www.culpainnata.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=311
Pre-requisites
1. 7-zip to open this archive (http://www.7-zip.org/)
2. Installed Steam or old cut DRM-Free GamersGate version of the game
Note: THIS PATCH WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT THE EXISTING GAME FILES FROM THE STEAM/GAMERSGATE VERSION
Instructions with download links
Download link:

Culpa Innata Uncut Patch (SEE NOTE BEFORE DOWNLOADING):
NOTE: YOU NEED TO MANUALLY REMOVE THE SPACES BEFORE AND AFTER mega.nz IN THE URL FOR THE LINK TO WORK (Necessary since Steam filters keep removing the link for this host)

Refer to Readme.txt in the archive for details and the disclaimer you agree to when using this patch. For ease of use (and if you accept the disclaimer) here are the instructions copied from the readme (the disclaimer is also listed further down for reference):

1. Check the pre-requisites above. Also, this patch will overwrite game files, if you wish to go back to the Steam version make sure that you backup the Steam game files prior to performing the next step.

2. Extract the contents of the Culpa Innata folder into the game's installation directory in Steam and overwrite the files when asked. The default path is:
64-bit Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Culpa Innata
32-bit Windows: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Culpa Innata

3. Play the game. It can be launched normally through Steam or the Game.exe in the game's installation directory.

Note: This patch only replaces and adds those files that are different/missing between the uncut and Steam version and ignores irrelevant files such as setup and uninstaller files. A few notes on the files are listed below:
a. The files ignored from the uncut version (not present in this patch as they are not needed) are:
TagesClient.dat
TagesClient.exe
unins000.dat
unins000.exe
Uninstall.ico

b. Some files become redundant between the two versions, the Steam files leftover are:
Strategy First.url
SFI.ico
Data\Intro\Momentum.ogm
Data\Intro\Momentum.wav
Data\Intro\SFI.ogm
Data\Intro\SFI.wav
These are the publisher logos of the Steam version which differ from the publishers of the Uncut version.

c. The Steam version actually comes with a useful digital manual in the game's directory missing from the uncut version, it is left unchanged by this patch:
Manual.pdf

d. The game exe used by this uncut version is a DRM-Free exe of a censored version that works with the uncut version without affecting game content. The original uncut version came with Tages DRM that has a number of potential issues on modern systems. If curious, the original uncut exe is present as:
Game.exe.bak
Just rename it to Game.exe to use, but it will most likely not work as it is DRM-enabled and the Tages files are not included (see note a. above). The Steam version of the exe has not been tested with the uncut content and may probably work but try this at your own risk.
Differences between Cut and Uncut version
Note: As I only played the uncut version I am listing these differences based on online reports, in case of any additional information please use the contact information to get in touch.

1. Additional scenes such as a somewhat explicit dream scene involving one of the incidents in the game and some additional context in the ending.

2. Captions for all dialogue, even the one-liners Phoenix says from time to time. The options menu enables you to switch these off if you wish.

3. Bonus comic, wallpapers and posters (present in the Bonus folder when extracted).

4. The intro logos differ as the publishers changed between Steam and Uncut version.
How to enable and check full Uncut subtitles
The steps to enable full subtitles available in the uncut version are:
1. Go to the settings in the main menu, the screen should look like this:

2. Click on Captions, then on On.

3. To check if everything works here's a quick way:
a. Start a new game, skip the intro (right click) then reach this point in the game:

b. Now click on the plant in the background and the captions should be visible like this:

c. Here are the settings from the in-game menu I use for reference:

4. [ONLY APPLICABLE TO OBSOLETE PATCH V1.1] If subtitles do not show up, please make sure you've installed the part 2 of the patch.

No all fine. Savegames in general work.

Saves from the censored version may not work with the uncut version as these are 2 different game versions. If the uncut game's saves are working normally that would mean cut version saves don't work on uncut. If saving itself isn't working, create a shortcut to the game and set it to run as administrator, that should fix it.

The savegames are in the folder but not ingame anymore. Yes I put them back into the games folder after that. I restarted it cuz I wasn´t far in the game. Still bad.
Had a few problems to start the game after the restart of Windows but now it works fine - except for the savegames.

@Sven_Q45: Can you please clarify your comment: are the savegames not working for you? They worked fine when I played it. Did you manually restore the saves into the game's folder when testing savegames? If it is the latter, you may need to run the game as administrator for it to work as it is possible Windows would map the file to C:\ProgramData without admin rights which makes restoring saves a bit harder.

Thanks. Tho the savegames are still in the folder but not in the game.

Hey Boomie, it's working fine, please make sure to copy and remove both the spaces from the URL as stated in the instructions. As Steam removes Mega links I had to use that workaround.
Boomie Nov 20, 2021 @ 1:38pm
Alas, the file is no longer available. When I enter the URL, Mega appears saying: "The file you are trying to download is no longer available". Sigh.

Hey Anam, looks like you may not have copied the whole link: You'll need to copy the whole URL as is AND remove both blank spaces as specified in the instructions. It should work then, I just tested it :)

Mega dot NZ is asking for a decryption key. What is that key?
